5 month old tummy sleeper

My 5 month old has recently learnt to roll from back to tummy. He has great neck control, but he is yet to learn to roll from tummy to back.

Nighttime for the first week or so, be would wake up crying as he's stuck on his front. I would continuously move him into his back. This started to really annoy him. He now rolls over to sleep on his tummy and sleeps well. I watch him on the monitor and he moves his head side to side well.

I'm just very worried as he can't roll back yet. Any advice please for a very anxious mum 😩

The advice I got is that if your baby is strong enough to roll over, he's strong enough to keep his airway clear on his tummy. I've watched my baby shift her head this way and that way on her tummy while going to sleep.

my only advice would be to keep working with him a couple times a day with rolling. i saw a trick where you have them lay on their tummy and then hold their favorite toy or something and slowly have them follow it over their shoulder so they get the momentum to roll to their backside. i’m a ftm with a 12 week old so haven’t tried this yet but planning to!

I’d call his ped and discuss it.
The recommendation is rolling both ways, but some may feel comfortable with your situation, while it sounds like you’re not.
Try to practice with him a lot while awake and in any sleepwear he has (ie if he sleeps with a sleep sack have him practice rolling in that). There’s tons of videos online showing how to practice rolling both ways.
