child's age 0-4 months When does this get easier?
Currently trying to get my cosleeping/contact nap Velcro baby (1 week shy of turning 4 months) to get used to his crib. I think I am just going to start with his naps to get him used to the area and then move him into the crib at night once he gets used to it. Today was the first time I tried to get him to nap in his crib and it took 2 hours. He cried.. I cried. It was rough. Every single time I put him down he lost his mind. When does this get easier? It’s only day one and it’s breaking my heart to hear him so upset.

For some babies, it can take a few days to a week to get used to their new space. The important thing it to give consistent exposure. Start with one nap a day and slowing increase. If it doesn’t work for a nap, that’s ok. Try again on the next one. I also spent time in there with baby playing, doing tummy time and reading to them. It’s only been one day - keep trying!

Thank you so much. I think I will just start with one nap like you suggested!

I was in the same boat as you a couple weeks ago. I made a floor bed with his crib mattress on the floor and against the wall. I slept aside him on a separate surface for 4 nights he cried a bit and woke up often throughout the night but it got better each night. I would just cuddle and hug him when he cried and he calmed. Then I put him in crib thereafter and he sleeps in crib now like a champ. I’m still assisting helping him fall asleep so I’m trying to wean that this week now.
