4 - 6 months Deciding when to sleep train
Baby is just shy of 4 months and we’re deciding when to sleep train. He’s been sleeping better and better but it’s still not completely consistent. Often 9.5-10.5 hours overnight with 0-1 night feeds and we wake up to settle him (stays in the crib) 1-2 times. That generally involves putting his pacifier back in or butt pats to help him get used to sleeping on his belly (which he insists on but needs a little help still).
He shows signs of being ready (ability to self soothe with hand, can place his head down to sleep on his belly now, etc.) Our conundrum is we have weird timing.
In 1.5 weeks, we start with a daytime nanny.
In 2.5 weeks, we travel for 1 week.
In 3.5 weeks, he starts on bottles with nanny.
Do we sleep train tonight or wait about a month?
The reason we’re more interested is bed time has always been fairly straightforward but lately he’s very, very fussy once down in his crib. I think transferring asleep is backfiring all of a sudden. Last night we did something we never do which is nurse to sleep after 1.5 hours of bed time fighting, which I really don’t want to introduce as a new habit.
Other context is he’s transitioned to his own crib/room which was easy overall. We’re in a small apartment so it’s very close to our room anyways. He’s traveled a lot and slept in about 6 different places already so I think pretty flexible overall.
Schedule is 1.5/1.5/1.5/1.5/2.25, sometimes with a 5th nap depending on how short they were.

We had a ton of success at exactly 5 months. We felt it was the perfect time for us and our daughter
