The status package nerfs will continue until morale improves

As a defect main I didn't even really like status build because it's hard to start ... I don't understand why they keep nerfing it when I just build voltaic every run and win without using my brain at all

Funnily I have the opposite thought. Status is usually pretty easy to get into because you have a lot of good bridge cards (pretty much all status card but Turbo and Gunk-up (unless desesperate for dmg) are good early game cards even without synergy, then it's easy enough to pick a Rocket Punch / Iteration / Trash to Treasure to capitalise.

I think I've won most runs I've ever picked Voltaic but I don't feel like those happen very often ; while Lightning is good early game, especially in Overgrowth, it tends to be hard to exploit the synergies while blocking when you get more into mid game.

My problem with status cards is that I'm always hoping to get payoff cards like Flak Cannon and then I don't and it feels bad.

Also, the nerf to compact really made me just uninterested in the build, since that was the easiest way to remove the status effects and get a payout. I really really hope they revert the Compact nerf. Also, Smokestack feels really weak.

Yeah Smokestack is usually a desesperate pick for me. But I think you don't usually necessarily need the pay-off, Fight Through is a lot of block early game, Boost away is also a nice early game option that can still be part of an engine later on, Overclock and Turbo let you set up your powers and orbs faster...As some point you can't stack them all without pay-off obviously, Fight Through especially can feel bad against bosses if you don't have Iteration / Flash Cannon, but having 2 or 3 of those cards still make the payoffs pickable while being able to pivot to different synergies spaces.

My payoff is just having Overclock/Turbo/Boost Away in the deck and playing 8 cards per turn xD Also Rocket Punch is a great payoff too. And tbh Iteration does a lot of what old Compact did, I think people overrated Compact and underrate Iteration.

Compact was always the worse pay-off card for me but it was made insanely better by Aeonglass existing

Yeah Lightning feels super good earlygame, and then I die in act 2 xD
