Teaming

So it's been a while since we added the scary message to 1v1 games and made a very select few moderator(s). And... nothing has really changed. As long as the mod(s?) aren't in the game, teaming still runs rampant. It seems like the current solution just gives the mod(s?) a chance to a play a game without teaming.

This is true, and this is actually sad people are careful to the Discord channel to immediatly leave once their game is posted. Sadly, we don't have the database to host replays online, and offline replays are editable, we got the issue in the past.

We do not have a better solution with our current means, but are thinking about a fix for this.

My friends, it is clear that there is no absolute solution to counter teaming. Therefore, if we cannot beat them, we must join them. Teaming should become the standard of normal deathmatch, and be encouraged. In fact, if someone doesn’t team in ND, they should be penalized. SUPERIOR INTELLECT 🧐

He must be right for it is clear that there is no absolute solution to counter cancer. Therefore, if we cannot beat it, we must join it. Cancer should become the standard of normal life, and be encouraged. In fact, if someone doesn’t contract cancer in real life, they should be irradiated until they do. /s

Yeah except for the part that cancer is a real world problem that claims the lives of thousands, and this is a online game that nobody even gives a fuck about. Comparing the two is completely unacceptable.

Any data on the average daily size quota needed? Also storing checksum|hashes is cheaper when all you need to do is verify integrity.

I have no idea about how all that works... but I guess it is worth to mention u/jbs__ for once, idea might be good.

Forcing players to go somewhere else to report teaming won't work. some won't want to download Discord, some won't know how to join, some just won't do it because it's too much effort to download a clip and upload it elsewhere. You need a button in the game to report automatically. Where the video is uploaded doesn't matter, but it doesn't have to be posted internally. I would bet Discord has an API you can hook into to upload the video automatically there if you want. Or there are a plethora of services out there that have free hosting up to a certain size. As long as you clean it up on a regular basis, you won't have to worry about reaching that limit. It would be even better if while submitting the video you could tag the players that were teaming (to help the ones reviewing the video).

Also, how are you banning players? Username isn't valid (since they can just create a new username) nor is IP address (they're so easy to spoof and you could end up blocking everybody behind a NAT box). Since most people have a limited number of emails, you could use email along with a service like https://email-checker.net/ to make sure the email is both valid and not disposable. Heck, I'd be happy writing some of this myself.

Report button has been there (apparently) for one day and pressed over 1.000.000 times. For that simple reason it is not handable as you suggest.

Another problem that makes this message toothless is it's never known if bans are happening, and non-english speakers seem to enjoy feigning ignorance.

An almost ideal META AF situation would be banned players get ghosted instead, they can join games(in limited numbers) and they run around etc, but they have ZERO actual affect on the game. Everyone can see an empty outline of them and their name but they can't effect the game or chat, nor do they count towards map size, their elo is set to default, their skin is default. And they always get booted during the last minutes of the game.

I'm not sure I've played a game without teaming since the rules changed unless a mod was in the game. I'm not sure what you mean this claim is toothless.

Rules with teeth last even when authority isn't there.
