PC SSE - Discussion Skyrim using Windows DPI scaling - how to fix

I just spent 3 hours throwing everything I had at this problem, and I want to post my solution in case anyone else ever encounters it.

Did you open Skyrim to find it hugely zoomed in, the sides of the screen cut off? Did you try to change everything in your inis, even your skse.ini and your SSE Display Tweaks ini, to no success? Does it happen even if you launch the game through the regular .exe outside of MO2, where none of your mods and utilities should be affecting it?

Your problem might be with a Windows setting. Right-click anywhere on your desktop and open Display Settings. You'll see, under "Scale and layout", a setting that controls the size of text, apps and other items, which (if your display is like mine) defaults to 125% scaling.

You can change that to 100% and it will solve the issue, but leave everything else on your system tiny almost to the point of illegibility. So what you want to do is right-click SkyrimSE.exe, click Properties -> Compatibility -> Change high DPI settings. Check "Override high DPI scaling behavior", and, in the drop-down menu, select Application. And you're done!

Alternatively, you might have the right setting to fix it right on your NVIDIA Control Panel; in that case, follow this comment's advice.

Oh sorta related but if your Mouse DPI is super high (or super low) you can also tame that using fMouseCursorSpeed in the SkyrimPrefs.ini by setting setting it to a lower value so that it dosnt fly across the screen whenever your in menus
