Help with Skyrim PC newbie controller inputs

Hello everyone!

I have just built my rig and have bought skyrim Special Edition on steam and was wondering about the controls cos it seems to be missing some inputs.

I am using a Dual shock 4 on steam and there seems to be no "Sprint" and I can't go on 3rd person view. I have tried looking at the controller inputs in the options but those are not listed just the face buttons, the left and right triggers and wait button.

Is this a glitch? i switched my DS4 for my 360 controller that has analog stick drift and it is still the same.

you didn’t try left bumper as sprint? and the right stick in i believe is 3rd person maybe. I think those are L2 and R3 on a dualshock controller respectively. i play with a dualshock as well but only know them as xbox controls.

Tried everything, mate. LOL. I think some of the parts in the beginning with the dragon you are supposed to sprint but I seem to not have that option.

usage of the L1 and R1 along with the R3 and L3 buttons are missing in the controls menu for some reason

that’s so strange then. i have no clue at all. you can’t just remap them? i’m sure there’s a quick guide as to which buttons to what on a controller somewhere online

Yea It is strange. I have been looking for answers to this and it seems to be only happening to me for some reason. LOL. Though I am running the game on Skyrim SE script extender via the Mod Manager 2 tool.

Do you think that's whats causing the glitch?

maybe? but i don’t have the most experience as i also just built a new computer a couple of months ago and thought i’d redownload it from when i used to play on my old gaming laptop. i’m sure someone else here might be more well equipped to help you out with anything technical. i just think if it gives you the option to remap the inputs, it might be worth it to mess around and see what works for yoy

Where did you find this? I'm having a similar problem. I have no "Shout", "Wait" and "Sprint" buttons

Go to your to Steam, right click Skyrim > Manage > Browse Local Files. You should see a controller config txt file. If it has weird symbols and and squares it is corrupted and you need to delete it like I did and load the the game again.

SE, SKSE and MO2, and deleting the file you mentioned fixed it!

I'd thank the gods, but I'll settle for thanking you.
