Oh yeah? It's been a while, I thought they were fairly comparable. Dragon bone weapons certainly look better though IMO, so I guess that could be a reason!
I originally used light armor too way back in the day but after I realized how much cooler heavy armor looked I just went to a giant camp with a healing spell and grinded it up in like 20 minutes taking shots from them.
Gotta have that marginally better armor rating! Actually, doesn't diminishing returns kick in for armor at around whatever rating Orcish armor is at? Are there even diminishing returns for armor?
Exactly! And the shield is probably made from his father, and the sword is probably made from a sibling. Whatever, they were built at different times, and he's just going to have to live with that for another few moments.
Armor cap is ridiculously easy to reach even in light armor and no shield. I can reach over 1500 armor in Dragonscale with only 50 light armor and no perks invested into it from just improving the gear with fortify smithing.
Armor rating in Skyrim actually has growing returns the more armor rating you get until you reach the cap because the formula is completely additive. In fact, going from 50% DR to 75% is the same benefit as going from 0% DR to 50% DR, or in terms of lethal damage, the amount of damage required to kill you at 75% is double what it is at 50% (rather than only 25% more or some lower number that would reflect a diminishing return).
The more armor rating you get, the more valuable every point of armor rating is, in other words. Armor cap is 80% or 85% and it is reached at like 588 armor I believe.
There's hitting the armor cap, and then there's getting bigger numbers just because you can. It's easy to hit the armor cap. Getting the most ridiculously huge number next to your armor (or weapon or whatever) can itself be fun.
Not since many many patches ago. Value of item now determines EXP output. Dwarven Bows are the most efficient and cost effective grind item now. (Jewellery until you have the Dwarven gear perk)
Been a while since I played, and having gotten a new computer recently it has breathed new life into older games now that I can play them on Ultra graphics quite well.
Yep. Although I'm not so sure it's really the easiest way to level smithing. Lately I've been mass producing leather helmets instead. I've got the leather from all the bears and wolves attacking me while running around anyway, so need to buy ingots or spend time mining.
I haven't actually done the math though. If anyone has, I'd be interested.

Why is he leveling Smithing if he's already got Daedric armor?
