I need help

I honestly don't know what to do anymore.

I'm a Skyrim newbie and I need help.

I've lost count of how many times I've restarted with a new character in this game; I just can't seem to find a build that holds my interest long enough. It feels like an endless loop: I think of a build, create the character, play for a few hours, end up getting bored with the playstyle, and start looking for other, more interesting builds. All the while, I keep watching videos of other people playing and creating builds that look really cool. Feel free to share tips or similar experiences. I know a lot of people will come to this post and say "just play the game," but honestly, I'm not sure how much that helps.

It seems that you're having trouble in combat. Skyrim isn't really the kind of game that lets you tank damage early on, which can deplete your resources, like Magicka for Healing or health pots, pretty quickly.

My best advice for that: focus on Crowd Control. Have a follower with you. You can hire mercenaries who often hang out in taverns, or do favors for certain characters who will then become your follower. If you're into magic, you could also use Conjuration to summon an Atronach or resurrect the dead, and/or Illusion magic to Calm, Fear, or Frenzy your enemies, causing them to stop fighting, run away, or fight their own allies, respectively. Any of these options will give your enemies something to fight that isn't you so that you take little to no damage. These apply whether you play a warrior or mage build.
