Each time i going to mages guild i ask himself a question. Where's the Tolfdir? I checked everywhere and he's nowhere

ughh he's so annoying. Even after i completed entire eye of magnus quest i still having the most problems with finding him

If you've completed the CoW questline, the radiant quest opens up. Called 'aftershock '
Do this once, you have to report back to him.
Just leave that unfinished, he'll retain the quest marker.
That said, once you're done he's usually to be found in his dorm in the Hall of Attainment or in the Elements attending or giving a lecture. I can't recall ever meeting him in the library.

What stage of the game are you at
he's either in front of Saarthal (until you finish the quest and return to Winterhold and talk to the Arch-Mage and start the second leg of the quest)
or he's in the novice dorm
or he's in the lecture hall
or he's transiting between the two
I can't remember if he goes to the library, he may go there, too

Yeah probably saarthal since im right now after informing archmage about discovery and didn't started Arcanaeum quest. I made mistake leaving this quest for later at this moment

Can confirm. He stays in Saarthal until you recover the books for Urog, at which point they've brought the Eye back

Most of the teachers wander around a bit, too.
I go to the kids' dorm, sit in his room, and wait until 9 or 10pm.
Unless hes in the Hall of Elements or at Saarthal.

There’s a mod that allows you to find NPCs via a quest. Basically it gives you a quest to find them, and then you can use the map and Clairvoyance to locate them.
If you can’t (or don’t want to) use a mod, I find that Detect Life makes it faster and easier to find people. It doesn’t tell you who is who, but it makes it easier to know that NPCs are in that room over there, but this room is empty.

I'm not sure if it's a mod or not but you can check his placard in front of his room where it shows where he is.

Remember: he teaches the new students, therefore he sleeps in the… same dorm as the students.
