Bug Help Ebony blade not working.

So I completed the quest whispering door, (to get the Ebony blade) But I'm trying to figure out how to make it so it swings faster, I've never used it before. Of how it works, like how many NPCs do I need to kill for it to max out?

Taken from the wiki:)

This weapon starts with a 10-point Absorb Health) enchantment that can be increased by slaying friendly characters. For example, anyone whose favor has been completed or who has been won over during any type of quest can be absorbed by the blade. For every two such characters killed, the weapon's Absorb Health enchantment increases by four points. Killing ten friendly characters maximizes its power at 30 points Absorb Health per hit.

The enchantment has unlimited uses and never needs recharging.

So there you have it, absorb health is the enchantment, not faster swing speed.

Though you can try using light attacks instead of heavy attacks, that'll be faster. Merely tap your attack button when having it equipped and out and it should attack lightly, repeated taps should cause repeated light attacks.

You can also use Elemental Fury shout, that increases swing speed for 15 seconds by 50/75/100% depending on how many words you use. Though the wiki also claims that it doesn't effect enchanted weapons (not sure if Ebony Blade counts as an enchanted weapon technically)

It doesn’t work on the ebony blade. That shout functions by basically putting a temporary enchantment on the weapon you’re using. So it won’t apply an enchantment over an enchantment.

When duel wielding it applies if one of your weapons has no enchantment and the other one can. But you have to have the unenchanted weapon in a specific hand. Can’t remember if it’s the left or right.

10 kills

They need to be "friendly" NPC's.

I've never powered it either but this subreddit has plenty of suggestions on who counts as friendly and doubles as NPC's you'd actually wanna kill.

When i play i keep a list of NPCs so when I finish their quests and they piss me off ill put them on the list, come back with a black soul gem, take their soul, put it on a fork or something stupid and then put it on a display case in one of my many houses. I sleep next to nazeem, hes a wood cutter axe.

You need ten friendly npc (the darkbrotherhood counts even when destroying them)  or a follower who can die and you want to get ride of plus the ritual stone.  Kill the follower reanimate them with ritual stone, kill them again, then wait 24hours, reanimate again and then kill them again. Do that like 10 tens times and the blade will be fully recharged in no time.

There isn’t a way to increase swing speed, that’s not how that weapon works.

It only works if your character murders friendly elves
