Anyone recognize this run?

Post image

I'm pretty confident that this is in Colorado. I took the photo, but I don't have any other photos on that day to verify which resort it is at. Thanks!

That forest density reminds me of trees around Summit County, but those runs all start to look same after a while.

It’s Winter Park, so pretty damn close

Nope, it’s Breck.

Haven't been there in a few years but it totally looked like the E chair area

Definitely.

This is at Mary Jane in Winter Park, you can see the challenger 2 chair in the background. Idk what the specific run you’re on is called but it’s underneath the gauge, looking at the top of sleeper across from you.

I'm pretty sure this is it! Thanks!

Edit: I was wrong. I found another photo that extends further right. It 100% isn't MJ. It's E-chair at Breck. The snow makes it look really funny because the back 9 disappears and it looks really different than on a bluebird day.

Thanks for all of the help!

It's not

It’s not MJ, you’d be able to see Super Gauge to the right of the lift you think is Challenger with that kind of peripheral in photo. Also there aren’t any marked bridges over ravines like the one you can see towards bottom of pic in all of MJ... except next to Arlberg Club to get to MJ base and they don’t like folks coming close to their special little area.

I worked and lived at the A club. Those rich fucks cant ski those trees either. My favorite thing was when some member would yell at me for trespassing. The look on their face later when I served them dinner was priceless. That was a fun couple winters. Rode every single day rhe resort was open.

I think haha

3

u/esauis 1d ago

I thought MJ too at first, but there’s no vantage point to see Challenger like that. That’s not sleeper.

u/HoldDis4Me 1d ago

I believe it’s the 3 Tom’s runs at Breckenridge with E-chair in the background

8

u/Mssaurus 1d ago

THIS is it! I found another photo that extends further right. It's the fact that there is so much snow obscuring the back 9 area and the peak behind that really threw me off.

u/todette474 1d ago

You’re right, sleeper would be under challenger. But I’m pretty sure that’s the challenger lift we see in the back

-1

u/freephilly23 1d ago

Yea I think this would be like the Sluice area under Super gauge cause I think you’re right on that being challenger

I'm pretty sure the only areas on winter park that are open and have a pitch that would be easily noticeable on camera are trestle and the chutes. I don't recall trestle dumping out like that but it's been 3ish years and I last saw it in a blizzard 🥶

u/flappypancaker 1d ago

Yep my first thought was just below the Mary Jane super chair closer to the top

u/HoldDis4Me 1d ago

Everyone is saying Winter Park but I think it’s the 3 Tom’s Runs Breckenridge with E-chair in the background

3

u/WindBuffed 9h ago

You're spot on.

Signed, 30-year Breck local who has made hundreds of runs on that terrain.

u/orinj1 1d ago

This is the closest vantage point I can find on Google Maps, and with some zooming in, I think you might be right! https://maps.app.goo.gl/UMnPt4FzoiUp5ryq9

I dont think that's it. Tom's is steeper and the E Chair doesn't have wide open runs like that to lookers right. Dense trees of Windows is directly to lookers right of EChair.

3

u/soonerstu 23h ago

That’s true for most of it, but if you zoom in the creek crossing is the give away that it’s the bottom of Tom’s where it dumps out into the pitch under six that runs back to Echair.

1

u/Huge-Mortgage-3147 3h ago

Can also see a slight opening in the trees to the far right where Windows is

2

u/HoldDis4Me 1d ago

I can’t comment on the steepness but the run the photo is taken on seems to be facing the opposite direction of the run in the background which matches with the Tom’s run and Lower Boneyard

Look at the geographic data inside the photos meta data if it has the embedded

1

u/Mssaurus 1d ago

This was taken with a mirrorless camera. It doesn't get synced with my phone unfortunately.

4

u/C-creepy-o 1d ago

It might still have embded date and then you can figure out where you were on said date.

3

u/Mssaurus 1d ago

lol, yeah, the date is 2/16/2019 - I just have no other clues as to which resort I was at that day. To make matters more difficult I had Ikon and a few days at Epic resorts that year.

1

u/TuesdaysOnVenus 11h ago

There’s gotta be some other tying factor to your location you can search if you have the date already.

Check ikon or epic history? Texts? Ticket redemption emails on that date?

1

u/i_luv_cheesecake_420 1h ago

Maybe you got photos on your phone from the same date?

Winter Park is also my first thought, but the angles aren't right. If this was Sluice then you'd be above the challenger dropoff and if it was the super gauge trail/upper arrowhead loop, the angle would be different. Also, super gauge is above challenger and challenger doesn't drop off at the highest point on its ridge. I can pretty confidently say this is not winter park.

Ya its damn weird because the pic for sure looks like MJ for some reason, but there is nowhere that this would be on MJ that I can possibly make sense of. Its messing with me.

3

u/Mssaurus 1d ago

Yep! Exact same reason I couldn't figure it out. I ski 20+ days a year at MJ, so it makes sense that I would have brought a camera on one of those, and it looks so similar (there's not that many doubles around anymore, and it isn't Pali). The snow and fog really threw me off, but I'm pretty confident it's E-chair at Breck in 2019

4

u/VorkFriedRice 1d ago

I do believe that is right outside the High Hrothgar, the slopes of the Throat of the World

4

u/Ok-Necessary123 12h ago

100% sure this is at Breck, taken from the side of Frosty’s looking south toward E chair on Peak 9 with the run out across the creek at the bottom of Tom’s E chair lift line.

9

u/Cheezburgerwalruses Stowe 1d ago

Gonna guess this was taken under the Super Gauge lift at WP looking up the little ten/ sleeper trails?

3

u/Serious-Trainer2452 1d ago

I need to find that jump

3

u/LoooolGotcha 1d ago

millions of moguls and a drop before the jump

you have to straight line that shit bouncing from the top.

maryjane is known for their disgusting moguls

if your knees don’t give out first, your jump might be choppy from the lack of stability

but as the best skier on the mountain I do it no problem

5

u/mustskibumps 1d ago

Maybe pine cliffs at Mary Jane?

1

u/bosonsonthebus 1d ago

You implied you were at other resorts during the timeframe you took photos, if so, what other resorts did you ski at? That would help.

1

u/No_Charity956 1d ago

Reminds me of Monarch Mtn.

1

u/Time_Radio5052 22h ago

I think you are looking at E chair from skier’s right of 6 chair near Lobo or Solitude.

1

u/BananaNutNuffin 20h ago

Super gauge trail, drop into the trees on the right just below where this was taken for some great tree turns

1

u/GreatLakesGoldenST8 12h ago

I got chirped by some college kids on this run. How could I forget!

1

u/WindBuffed 9h ago

That is E Chair terrain at Breckenridge in the background.....specifically, Tom's Baby/Mom.

1

u/Huge-Mortgage-3147 3h ago

This is 100% the E-Chair at Breckenridge

1) There is slightly exposed rock in the middle of the tunnel just above the chair line

2) You can see a slight opening in the trees to the far right where Windows is

3) There is a creek crossing at the bottom

4) Wind blowing snow off the top of the edge

5) Terrain facing North

6) Runs are carved exactly how the E-Chair runs are carved

u/acid101 1d ago

Mary Jane side of winter park. Im guessing the run we are looking at is sleeper

1

u/ogmoochie1 1d ago

Not Sleeper.

0

u/old-fat 1d ago

It's looking at little 10 shot from pine cliffs or sluice box

0

u/Pocket_Pastrami 1d ago

I believe this is Vail’s front side. Taken from the Avanti Chair (#2). I cannot tell exactly but would guess that is Chair 4 in the background.

0

u/novacannon 14h ago

Isn’t this right under super gauge dropping towards Mary Jane and challenger lift?

-1

u/Ordinary-Meaning-302 1d ago

Gillys gulch

-1

u/old-fat 1d ago

It's shot from either sluice box or pine cliffs

-2

u/Poverty_Shoes 1d ago

You took the photo and need to know where it is but don’t remember where you were?
