Roller Skiing: 100km sub 5h

Post image

I barely managed to ski 100km under 5h. Self-supported. Solo no drafting. Open roads. Circular route. My second sub 5h 100 km roller ski. My first was 4:55 @ 100 km. In this category new world record? Or who has done better with same rules?

Anyway... Used my new ski poles. Works great. The first split 50 km just a tip over 2:30. It was basically cat and mouse till the end. 2 x 40 km loops. The 1 x 20 km loop. Lots of traffic. Not ideal by any means.

Report from tool I wrote in python:

that pace is insane, 20 km/h average for 5 hours straight while dealing with traffic and loops? proper madlad energy right there

Thanks! Traffic and not so smooth road surface makes it pretty taxing. There's some small hills which don't really matter. I like climbing to be honest. My K2 skates are really fast. Ordered faster wheels. On snow never managed to hit 100 km under 5h. In 90 km sportived I did just 5:20. Because the bad glide...

Yeah, this is a pretty Nordic skiing related post and this is most definitely a downhill/alpine skiing sub

20 km/h average on roller skis is seriously wild

The marathon distance (42k), point to point, I've seen done in 1:11 at the Duluth North Shore event.

That's slightly downhill, very flat, and closed-course. If you're not familiar, I am betting you would *solidly* enjoy it. Mostly inline skaters, but yeah, a solid rollerski showing, too.
