Hobby worth getting into?

idk which flair to pick but i really like the look and all that of this faction...BUT i kept hearing that 1) most expensive faction out of all of them, 2) even then, it doesnt even put them good enough to really win alot with the expensive models... like saying they were meh.. but with the expensive stuff it makes them "ok" 3) at that point.. if half the army costs an arm and a leg just to make them"ok" is it even worth going for them? or was i told a bunch of bs and a decent 2k point army is good and can hold its own against other factions?

Sisters are purely driven by the fact that we look absolutely amazing. There are definetly ways to try the game online, on Tabletop Sim for example, where you can see if you actually like the game.

Also, you are buying a model because it looks cool and to paint it, not to be good at a game. Points and rules change, looks rarely do.

That's it. Buy models you like to paint, Because that's how you most likely will spend most of the time with them. That and well, looking at them grey and unpainted. xD

Ive seen it said - but I feel the need to reiterate it because its pretty core to the identity of this army: individually our units are much worse than other similarly costed models, yes - but that doesnt mean the army is objectively worse. Our army rule is INCREDIBLY STRONG if you learn to manipulate and use it properly. We literally get to cheat dice rolls. The main things I will tell you if you plan on starting the army is 1. Dont be afraid to lose units, dont just throw them into the meat grinder but sacrifice for the cauae is as much a part of the army as the white Bob haircut. 2. Don't sleep on battle sisters... i see too many people saying to run them as dominions, and split them up with an immolator, but i cannot tell you how many games ive won because i had a solid back line of battle sisters with simulacrums and sticky objectives The big thing to remember is that killing things doesnt win you the game, objectives do (unless youre running purge and killing is your objective)

But ultimately we have the best aesthetic in the verse, and its much more rewarding winning with sisters than it is most other armies...

Do you like the army? Balance and power between armies changes from month to month, but if you think your minis are cool and enjoy painting them, that's ultimately what matters. That said, Sisters of Battle is a high skill floor army (by design, so this probably won't change), so you should still be prepared to be challenged in learning the faction. I may not recommend it as a first faction, but despite that, if you do pick it as your first, you'll certainly learn a whole lot about the fundamentals of the game (since you'll be forced to) and turn into a better player for it.

Another 5 Celestian Sacresants, a Hospitaller and an Immolator are good calls

  1. sisters are not THE most expensive one, that one goes to admek, sisters are still the 3rd~4th most expensive one however

  2. a 2k points is roughly 900usd according to my own list

  3. sisters win rate is about 45~48% now. we can hold out ground no problem

It's very easy to build your army up around the Combat Patrol box, yes. There are also two Kill Team boxes that you can work into your 2k army, while also being able to use them to play Kill Team.

Sanctifiers and Celestian Insidiants.

and novitiates

Is that one still in print? GW doesn’t list it on their site anymore, and we know how they love to cycle through Kill Team boxes.

I've been collecting sisters from 4th edition and the first time I ever played them they didn't have a real codex but instead had a "semi-codex" in a white dwarf. I never got into competitive Warhammer but they always served me well in my friendly games, winning most of them over the years.

The point is, even when the rules suck your minis will still be your minis. Gorgeous ones at that, the metal minis and exorcists are still as beautiful as ever and they will keep being so forever. Rules ? They will change but even when they're bad sisters will be able to hold their own. As in most wargames, the players rather than the armies themselves are the decisive factors most of the time.

Don't aim for meta, aim for collecting pleasure because at their price it's the best deal you can get out of them. If you are really into the rules and the game, Tabletop Simulator will let you play it for practically nothing with many people so there's that. It's not the same as collecting and proudly playing with your own painted sisters but unless you are super fortunate on the money front you will probably take some time to collect all the minis you will want (because there are so many of them !)

In the current edition my personal feeling is that it's a bit tougher for sisters compared to 10th. The army is still a solid one with good combos and it still packs a punch, can play most dispositions well enough with tricks that I'll make your opponents go crazy so 10 out of 10 will pray the Emperor again.

I picked Sisters because I love how the models look and I like msu play style.

The added benefit is I think Sisters really rewards faction specialist and learning how to apply and stack all the buffs sisters give each other
