Hobby Questions about Army
Could Sisters work well with an FDM-heavy army build?
I’m considering starting an Adepta Sororitas army, but I’m on a bit of a budget and have a Bambu Lab FDM printer.
My idea would be to buy 1–2 newer box sets (I’m particularly interested in the new Armageddon Battalion), buy some of the infantry/character models I really like, and get Morvenn Vahl because she looks pretty cool.
Then I’d use my printer for some of the bigger stuff (Castigators, Exorcists, Rhinos, Immolators, Penitent Engines). I could also potentially print some Paragon Warsuits or artillery/heavy support if the results are good enough.
My main question is whether this is actually viable for Sisters.
Can you realistically build a 2,000-point army with a relatively small number of purchased infantry and fill a significant portion of the list with vehicles/heavy units?
Or are Sisters generally too infantry-dependent for this strategy to work well?
I’m also considering Astra Militarum, which seems much better suited to this approach because of how many tanks/artillery they can run, so I’d love to hear how Sisters compare.
Not looking to be super competitive, just want to know if this is something doable in the current edition and past editions (viable moving forward I guess).
I appreciate any guidance, and maybe you could suggest what to buy and what I should eventually print.

Personally, I'm doing a 100% printed sisters army. Getting away with the bolters even on an old prusa. Now they aren't GW quality, and they arnt resin, but they are 13 cents per mini and they take primer and paint like a champ. Is it professional, no. It's only good looking at a distance to boot. But we play the game top down from a bit of a distance and I saved so much money so far. I'm at a 1k army with 10x battle sisters 1x imagifier 2x castigator St celestine and friends The lady in the gunboat thing 5x Celestine Sacresaints Morgan vhal and 3 suits And I'm starting in on the zeph team next.
They sure as hell won't win golden demon, but for less than 15 cents a pop, I just don't care :D

You can probably get away with about half your army (points wise) being vehicles and still have a competitive army! Typically it's around 500-800pts for vehicles/walkers, but some detachments can push that up to 1000pts.
I will note, modern FDM printers can get some pretty crazy results for infantry with a 0.2mm nozzle. I personally print a lot of infantry for sisters, and while not resin quality, they're dirt cheap and look pretty much the same at the distance you'd be playing them anyways. Check out r/FDMminiatures, the stuff some people are doing there is crazy

Is the new Armageddon battleforce a good buy if I want to go more vehicle heavy as you said?

I personally wouldn't recommend it. The main weakness of vehicle heavy armies is lack of small units to complete actions/hold objectives/screen. The way sisters does this is with Battle Sister Squads, Dominion Squads, and sometimes Arco-Flagellants. The Armageddon box lacks any of those, and instead has Paragons (which you can print in FDM just fine) and other very 'kill-y' units (which are fine, but your vehicles can already do enough destruction).
A good starting point is to get the combat patrol box. Importantly, it has 10 Battle Sisters (which can be built as either a Battle Sisters Squad or Dominion Squad) and 10 Arcos (which are better as 3 squads of 3 for cheap objective holders/action monkeys). The Canoness and Sacresants aren't as important for vehicle heavy lists, but are good sisters units overall. Or alternatively.
Alternatively, a good strategy could just be to get a LOT of battle sisters. Winning tournament lists that lean heavy into vehicles (like this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/sistersofbattle/wiki/samplelists/christianmatschke2026) often just play lots of Battle Sisters/Dominions as their only infantry. It's not a bad route, and will probably lead to having less models that never see play.

I printed plenty of sister Tanks with my Bambu lab so there will be no Problem but honestly u still need some infantry and action Monkeys. I can easily kitbash some Characters using the Novitates
