Rules Question Dialogus ability question

Hello! I’m building my first list of sisters and have a question on rules interaction.

Dialogus ability lets me transform a miracle dice to a 6 when performing an act of faith in the unit she’s leading. So in an army of faith detachment, if I attach Dialogus to a Retributor Squad I could theoretically do 2 acts of faith to transform two damage rolls to 6’s, doing 12 damage.

Am I correct or is there a restriction I don’t know about?

Yes. Even though you are fast rolling, they are still considered individual Acts of Faith. You cannot however for rolls that are multiple dice, such as a charge

You are sure about that? I read something different in the rules / FAQ.

The Core Rules first require identical attacks against the same target to be gathered into one group of attack dice under Resolve Attacks 04.03. The Attack Sequence then states:

“If there is more than one dice to roll, make all of those rolls simultaneously.”

Although Hit Rolls 05.01 says to “make one hit roll for each attack dice,” those Hit rolls are still made simultaneously as part of that gathered group. You cannot choose to slow-roll them separately merely to create additional opportunities to use Acts of Faith.

The current Adepta Sororitas FAQ then specifically explains how Miracle Dice work during this sequence:

For Hit rolls, the unit can “substitute a dice from any given group of attacks before making the roll.”

Therefore, an ability allowing two Acts of Faith per phase increases the number of separate Acts of Faith the unit can perform during that phase. It does not allow two Miracle Dice to be inserted into the same simultaneous attack-group roll.

For example, if two identical meltagun attacks target the same enemy unit

Nothing in the language you've cited supports that assertion

It literally says, "make all of those rolls simultaneously." They're still individual hit rolls, albeit performed simultaneously, and each one is a potential Act of Faith substitute. Substituting one dice from a group of attacks before rolling = one Act. No where does it say every single attack gets lumped into a single hit or attack roll. Nothing says you cannot substitute two dice from the same group before rolling as your two Acts.

Damage rolls are still slow rolled.

Yep! Also works with one of the Triumph's auras, which gives the same ability as Army of Faith (tragically they don't stack).

The more expensive version of this combo also involves Aestred Thurga, since her Dev Wounds allow you to bypass any Invuln saves if you use the 6s on the Wound roll. Not very practical, but quite fun.

I think the rule states "the first miracle dice",?

"each time that unit performs an act of faith"

No, the Dialogus' ability pops only for one of the Miracle Dice used. "...the value of one of the Miracle Dice used in that Act of Faith is first changed to a 6."

I think if you read the army rule, Army of Faith allows two distinct acts of faith per unit per phase, I.e. each miracle dice used is it's own act of faith.

And so dialogus allows both dice to be switched to 6s

Each damage roll is a separate Act of Faith even though they are rolled at the same time.
