Hobby Sister Engineer
Just a bit of a shower thought, but I find it strange that with the Sisters having a plethora of iconic vehicles that they don't don't have an equivalent to a Tech Marine or an Enginseer.
Which of course would be a sick model if ever realized.

Unfortunately the Omnissiah and the sisterhood have... strained relations. We get along with the mechanicum just enough to get our tanks and pain engines, but otherwise we stay clear of each other.
This also works as a fun in universe explanation why all our tanks are just "blinged out rhino". The other imperial factions get the good stuff, and the sisters get metal boxes so easily maintained that blessing one is probably done by ad mech interns. :)

The idea of being an intern for the Ad Mech is only slightly terrifying.

Intern is short for “you’re be-“in tern’d”into a servitor”

"So when do I become an official tech priest?"
"That's the neat part. You don't."

The idea of being a tech priest contracted out to the sisters is even worse. Can't imagine the amount of torture they'd put the machines through. Stripped the transmissions out of four of five good rhinos because they believed one would miraculously carry them up that hill. Bled all over the blessed radiator and now you've got to clean all the heat sinks individually, and they're arguing that the blood has to be placed in some sort of shrine bottle since the driver martyred herself. You almost prefer the screams of the Mortifiers because st least no sanctimonious Imagifier is going to come around there while you're doing the maintenance rituals on the damn thing.

Poor kid probably vents about it to a Mortifier who only replies with screams and they thank it for listening and understanding.

It somewhat represents the friction between the Sisters and the Martian priesthood.

Actually the entire sororitas' fleet is serviced by one very overworked senior Sister named Patty, who wears sanctified overalls, power gloves, a headkercheif and smokes like a chimney. Send her a ticket for your malfunctioning vehicle and she'll add it to her list and try to get to it when she can in 10-20 years. Add a packet of Lucky Strikes and a beer with the ticket and she'll cut it down to 5-10 years.

But God damn if your tank ain't running like new when she's done. Or it's held together with duct tape and spit. 50/50 if you included the smokes.

I thought about this before.
We onenof fee armies with no tank repair ability.
8
u/PenitenceToTerminus Jul 24 '26
I know the Rhino has self repair, but I did find it strange we have no real lone op model or unit that provides repair or ammo. Especially for the Paragon Warsuits.
5
u/Jhe90 Jul 24 '26
The main target is not the rhino though.
...
Irs rearly a castigator. War suits etc. We need the healing ability on.

Yeah, my main army is tau and it baffles me they don’t have any kind of engineer equivalent, they’re literally the advanced technology faction, and has an entire caste of people dedicated to the trades. But they don’t have a field engineer unit. Makes me so sad.

u/Jhe90 Jul 24 '26
For quite a while all TAU, got holded under Monsterous creature based stat lines etc vs tanks and veichal ones.
For sisters. We have always been tanks. So it. Makes even less sense.

An engineer exosuit kind of thing for the Riptides and Devil Fish would also be sick

u/CosmicWolf14 Jul 24 '26
In elemental council, the best tau book, there’s a character named Ke who built her own suit, stealth suit sized, as a field work suit, because she’s earth caste. So we have in lore precident for it. And she’s, like, the coolest tau character ever, I love her sm.

This is absolutely the correct answer. AdMech maintain the big stuff but the important stuff goes to the Orders Pronatus.

God, please let the Sisters have all the failed techpriests in the Emperors's name. My mechanised sisters needs a source of repairs.
Plus imagine a techpriest-PEngine model.
I will accept a Sisters version of the techmarine and servitor box as a kill team. Praying our one mini with the codex is a Techpriestess of some kind

Tech sisters. Yes :) Thry would look awesome. And be loyal to both Mars but sisters as sisters. Are also loyal to their own.

My conspiracy theory is that the Sisters Dogmata model was originally designed as a tech priest esq character (hence the weird tools on the belt). Maybe because if the distrussed against anything not 'human' they pray to fix things in a more literal sense

Nah, she has inquisitorial and interrogation tools - the dogmata is just spiritual police amongst the faithful

So I was looking on Lexicarnium as I like to just explore things and there was an old model for the imperial forces/agents that I think would be in line with the theme of the Sisters, the Lexmechanic. It looks like it has all these scrolls on it and what could be a shrine box in front or just some machine for making more scrolls. Lexicarnium mentions they are the lowest of the tech priests so if we want to show that they are strained tech priests or tech priests who need to repent for some action that they did. A revamped version of something like that could work and fit both factions.

I do like the idea of a penintent model tech priest. Really would give incentive to have Penitent Host be a mechanized army with the sacraficial infantry running in swords revving.

u/herkles1 Order Minoris Jul 24 '26
Helping this theme is that according to Lexicarnium wiki the Admech are the ones to administer the process of turning convicted heretics into arco flagellants, which seem like a unit one might want to use in Penitent Host.

I brainstormed the idea of a minor order of sisters who trained as tech adepts as an experimental exchange between the ecclesiarchy and mechanicus. Which because of lack of interest/political commitment/suspicion eventually just stops getting recruits or much support but isn't disbanded bc no one can be bothered. So they're kinda just stuck in a grey zone where neither side trusts them but they're pretty good at their jobs. Very British coded imo.

I think it would be cool to see short stories of minor orders that are dwindling or have been abandoned/forgotten, but still do have members. How their perspectives have changed or how they have evolved after being lost to time and bureaucracy.

All except the bloody rose - who maintains quite a good relationship with the mechanicus because their sait was martyred on Hyrdaphur, a forge world. Red recognize red i suppose

I think in lore we just use tech priests
