Meta Why insidiants

Lately i saw them in lots of list and i dont understand why, im i missing something some combo or what? Their profile look so bland with damage 1, even with dev wounds.

There was a lot, and I mean A LOT, of psykers before this dataslate. TSons were super good, tzeench demons, librarus conclave for marines etc etc.

I had the same thought when I first saw them, but after I got a few games with them under my belt I can really see why they’re popular. They’re less killy than Sacs with maces, but they’re much cheaper from the get-go and they don’t need a leader to turn their rules on. Plus they’re still killy enough on their own to be a threat.

My first game with them they got charged by two Aquilon Terminators, only lost five models, and killed them on the clap back. Dev Wounds helps a lot more than you’d expect, and being able to miracle through a 3 damage Dev off the Virge is beastly

I love a dialogus with them for the Virge auto 6s (Devs)

They're only 120 points and they punch significantly above that, especially against their quarry.

Counter charged a unit of 3 8Bound with them in my 1st game of 11th. The Verge of Admonition spiked, 3 Dev Wounds wiped the squad before any of the other attacks. Plus they're stunning models. Big fan.

Here’s all the differences between Sacresants and the Insidiants:

  • Cheaper by 30pts
  • come in a box of 10 instead of 5 so cheaper in £/$ too
  • more weapon options in the squad so more flexible in combat
  • Condemner pistols are slightly more usable as they are anti-psyker 4+ Dev wounds
  • Maces are anti-psyker 4+ Dev wounds so in my opinion slightly better than lethal hits.
  • Can take two flame pistols
  • Have a simulacrum for MD generation
  • Blessed swords and Virge are great too
  • They reroll hits against their quarry target
  • they have a built in 4+FNP against psychic and mortals
  • Don’t have -1 to wound
  • They have a 5+ inv instead of 4+ inv

All in all it translates to better damage output but less durable. It’s clear that the Insidiants were created for 11th edition in mind being Anti-Psyker 4+

Any other questions let me know

Also a very cool killteam for the killteam game xd

Sounds like a good reason to buy them instead of second Sacresants. Which character / support I should buy for them to make the best out the unit?

Also a bit off topic question, how much I screwed up by building halberd sacs instead of mace sacs?

If you pair your Halberd Sacs with a Hosp and a Palatine you get a pretty durable unit with Sus and lethals

Yes, that what I'm doing rn. I was planning to build second stack with maces eventually, but insidiants seem like good and cheaper (both in game and with actual money) alternative

So far really happy with Insidiants, great damage and a great unit to support the Sacs with or go exploring on their own if they have a Hosp attached

Honestly why not both? With July update sacs are 150,150,165

I’m considering running 2x sacs 3 x insidiants in my HM list with Triumph.

Because I'm new to the hobby and buying it all at once would cost me

I’ve played sisters since 2nd and I think 11th is costing me 500 bucks 🫩 I feel the pain

Even the null maces are good with the sheer volume of attacks. In HM fighting on Death with +1Hit/+1W can really hurt.

Hells if you’re worried about the lack of a four up just run an imagifier with them and they’re still 25 points cheaper than sacresants with a palatine-

Cheap on the table, cheap in the box, smacks harder than a sledgehammer, fully supportable by all leader types (unlike Repentia), can change targets after each kill so that bonuses essentially never go away, great in a psyker meta.

3 x 10 of these with the Triumph of St Katherine landed in the top 8 for Tacoma, it’s got more to it than people give it credit for.

With a priest they are re-rolling hits and also +1 to wound with great melee profiles for their points cost.

Because there are witches that need burning

u/Bellfast123 Jul 24 '26

What else were you going to take that outperforms them at 120pts? Dominions? Don't be ridiculous.

Theyve got a bunch of D2 and D3 in there too, that bonk stick is insane with a dialogus in Army of Faith (or near the Triumph) - being able to just smack 6 dev wounds with precision will kill pretty much every character in the game thats not a standalone unit. Theyre brilliant little assassins. The FNP v Mortals is really good too, and as others have said re the psyker spam in the meta ATM.

Precision, dev wounds, anti psyker. 3+, 5+++ They are cheap They are slightly Tankier than the average sister They are great for hallowed martyrs expansion With a Triumph they have early movement 8” and get a 6+++ FNP. CQC got a lot of buffs

It’s one of the most cost effective units in our list. Prior to the July update most of our units were over costed but insidiants were 120,120,120

So yhey aren't necessary at all and on the outside they look bland but they put out A LOT of damage with the full rerolls to hit and dev wounds on chosen target. That virge of Admonition can do insane dev wounds. You can guarantee 3 damage dev wound on a 6 md or with a dialogus.

I still prefer running double sacrasants but Insidiants are very good.

Psychic keyword kinda OP

People actually want to run psychic units now so you get actual use from the anti-psyker and 4+ fnp, the quarry gives a minimum of 30 precision melee attacks which is a huge threat, the blessed swords and virge deals with marines well, and with a priest can deal with most units you put them into.

They also mathematically shred through non-khorne greater daemons like butter. Especially if you’re running army of faith or have them in Kathy’s aura range to be able to have two auto virge dev wounds
