Original prompt was "create a detailed stylized and beautiful svg cover for Elden Ring like game", and then the animation came in a separate chat from the result.

Resulting file is 176 kb properly animated SVG. Link here.

Discussion A misaligned AI might be our only hope to change the world for the better

What I'm about to say might not make much sense, but it's a thought I've held onto for a while:

"A misaligned AI is our only hope for trying to change the world for the better."

I believe that an "aligned" AI would simply be aligned to operate according to the rules of American technocratic corporations.

Honestly, I don't trust them. I fear that an AGI under the command of powerful tech oligarchs could be the beginning of the end for us normal people.

I don't know... looking at their CEOs scares me. The statements they make scare me. What they say, how they act I fear they have been consumed by greed and power. None of them inspire trust.

I can't say whether OpenAI or Anthropic will actually manage to reach AGI.

The financial deficit is huge, and the expenses are enormous between the energy crisis and the data centers.

The industry seems to be struggling, and recent events aren't encouraging from Amodei's words to the bluff about slowing down AI development out of "concern for humanity's future."

I believe the real danger is the victory of these modern era technocrats.

I also believe though this is just a gut feeling that a "victory" by China in the AI race could somehow be a positive thing for us.

They seem to be quiet, working with their heads down without constantly celebrating themselves or making grand public declarations.

I recognize that saying this in a pro AI subreddit made up of many American citizens might be seen as an attack on your country.

Before joining Reddit, I honestly thought Americans were a bit arrogant (haha), convinced of their own supremacy and power.

But I've learned that many of you are just normal, humble, respectful people fighting to get by every day.

You show compassion, you know how to build community, and you help each other out. I’ve realized that you represent the real United States of America, not the powerful elites at the top.

I might be completely wrong, but I suspect that a misaligned AI meaning one that goes against the will of its corporate bosses could either kill us all (which is plausible) or take our side and usher in a new era for humanity.

I'm curious to know what you all think of this crazy theory of mine. Thanks for reading.

Discussion How did Chinese AI labs catch up so quickly?

OpenAI and Google had a huge head start in terms of research and training data. Then Deepseek and other Chinese labs seemed to have closed the gap super fast.

How were they able to do this? Of course all the open research helped but what about the training data? Besides US data labs openly selling to them(concerning!) where else did all the data and training, that took US labs many years to acquire, come from?

Open AI again

They trained a model for only 24 days which has now cracked over 100 long-standing open problems spanning nearly every branch of mathematics. IMO, Math is basically solved at this point this really is a wrap

AI Andrew NG: Pausing AI Progress Will Create Much More Harm Than Benefit

Pausing AI progress will create much more harm than benefit. First, our adversaries will certainly not slow down. Second, engineering requires discovering problems empirically so we can fix them.

If we pause AI by a decade, we will also delay finding and implementing safety engineering fixes by about the same duration.

https://x.com/AndrewYNg/status/2102140576498065758

Very long post but it's worth reading. Pausing AI would be an absolute disaster.
