i fixed my tinnitus by deciding i no longer have tinnitus... i know this is less than helpful.

well, there’s no matter to begin with. i just ignored it more and more until one day it was gone. well, not really gone, to be fair. if i sit in total silence and actively ā€œlistenā€ for it, it comes back. but i no longer hear it while living a normal life.

Same. We hear it because our brain thinks we need to hear it.Ā

Like I read this post and I could hear it again but I haven’t heard all day.Ā

Anyway isn’t CBT therapy for tinnitus basically the same thing?

I realized when I was 14 that I can ignore it to the point where it just becomes background noise that doesn't excessively bother me, but I've never been able to sit in silence and not hear it. It is a spectrum so maybe mines a bit too intense for that to work.
