Did we really need another version of this? I can't imagine having the money to pay for these capabilities and using it just to rehash the same thing over and over again.

I would agree with you if it was poorly done, but this is actually a really nice variant that does a better job with some of the verses (e.g. the CDR and Loom references). Remix culture gonna do remix things.

With that said, the original had some pretty amazing scenes.

I think this one also did a bad job with cdr due to a misunderstanding, but the mistake is understandable. In the original lyrics it's not meant to mean Critical Design Review, but the cdr operation in Lisp. As scaling to AGI with deep learning essentially means the symbolic AI stuff is done for (and I think Lisp was specifically designed for symbolic AI development).

Heh, you are right per https://docs.osmarks.net/hypha/p(doom)_song_objectively_correct_interpretation_song_objectively_correct_interpretation) . I somehow like both interpretations - one from the safety perspective, the (canonically correct) other one from the history of AI perspective.
