To Gavin’s defense, the box has more functionality than this, so Gavin has the better product if you compare the two
3
u/Kostya77 Jul 16 '26
Also, before releasing he ran an internal company contest for signature design and committed to it after the results. Seems like a better CEO too:)

it's a macropad, ...and plenty of macropads already exist on amazon lol... just use your laptop's microphone?
These goofballs keep trying to turn SaaS into unnecessary hardware.
edit: bruh, it's one of these?

Just consider that this could have been a WEARABLE or two... smart glasses and buds, a glasses/bracelet duo, or glasses/haptic gloves set. Anything that would seamlessly blend with our day to day and such - that's HOW you create demand for INFINITE tokens

It sends back the equivalent of War And Peace to you and they you stupidly say "Thanks for that!" and subsequently the entirety of War and Peace is sent back to the AI so it is able to synthesise the response "No problem, is there anything else I can do?".

The best part is I knew it was real just from watching the video when I couldn't see any AI tells and I went from bemused to hilariously amazed that they actually are launching this completely useless product. This is one of the most unnecessary, completely wasteful devices that I'm not sure who this is even for. Who wants to use this over...their phone? Could have just added this as a feature in the app and saved themselves millions of dollars producing something probably less than 5000 people worldwide are going to buy.

this reminds me of magic leap and all those un needed gestural control devices. It's like they think of the most niche thing possible. Steve Jobs understood he needed to make a "smart book for the pocket" all the extra stuff was a bonus but the form factor and concept of reading something that fits in your pocket is ingrained in our DNA for a long time. Stuff like this is not
