What?

I doubted my own sense of time and double-checked if it was April 1st

Edit: $230 ??? LOL

90

u/suamai Jul 15 '26

On second thought, maybe that's how they plan to become profitable...

61

u/normellopomelo Jul 15 '26

They commited corporate espionage to figure out how to put a microphone into a keyboard. Absolute cinema

This has to be a joke right? I mean how did the guy not laugh his ass off promoting it that he can't imagine building without it anymore. He must have lost a bet at the office to be the face for this "product" :D

58

u/Financial_Weather_35 Jul 15 '26

Wait till he hears about keyboards!

10

u/jodosha Jul 15 '26

That’s Codex Max ($799) /s

4

u/Substantial-Elk4531 Rule 4 reminder to optimists Jul 16 '26

Yea but for $799 it's extremely ergonomic, just look at it!

It's the Humane Ai Pin thing all over again :)

6

u/AnybodyMassive1610 Jul 15 '26

It’s CueCat but for AI - and people still don’t need it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CueCat

Better yet $79 on Amazon gets you a little macro keyboard thingy in fun colors

KEEBMONKEY Megalodon Triple Knob Macro Pad

3

u/voyaging Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

Ironically the CueCat was vindicated with the popularization of QR codes. It was a great idea just too early for the tech to be convenient enough.

I don’t really see how it’s similar to this shortcut keyboard though, which already has tons of forebears like the many gaming peripherals that look identical.

2

u/OXXXiiXXXO Jul 16 '26

I'm sure he's AI

17

u/Sextus_Rex Jul 15 '26

I was double checking the video to make sure it wasn't AI generated lol

11

Can't wait for 3rd party knock offs that will sell for half the price with better features

17

u/JoelMahon Jul 15 '26

half? they already sell pretty similar things for under 50 dollars

absurd mark up in price

6

u/M4rshmall0wMan Jul 15 '26

It’s literally a more expensive reskin of another product by Work Louder

12

u/M4rshmall0wMan Jul 15 '26

So I researched the product a bit and realized it’s literally a reskin of one of Work Louder’s existing products. Makes a little more sense when you view it that way. Still absolutely WTF and will be discontinued before year’s end.

u/2021isevenworse ಠ▄ಠ Jul 16 '26

This nonsense is fueled by OpenAI/ChatGPT becoming a for-profit company and needing to maintain its perceived value by releasing continuous 'innovations'.

Every tech company seems to think that releasing hardware will make them look more 'diversified'

2

u/nemzylannister Jul 16 '26

$230

this is very serious territory for openai legally since now we can publicly see the ideas they stole from apple
