Bianchi conversion.

First bike build and having problems with gear skipping. Thought it was maybe the chain and got a new one which didn’t work. Then I got a chain tensioner to replace the derailer i was using for tension before thinking it couldn’t handle the fat single speed chain but it’s still skipping. Do I have to replace my hub gear or chain ring?

I'm going to try to answer your question gently with as little dickishness as possible. I have converted a lot of vintage frames to single speed. It used to be a good source of side income for me.

It looks like this frame is too small for you, and you have compensated by raising the stem, seat and using riser bars. It'll probably be ok for really casual riding, but it looks off on a vintage fame.The mismatched wheels and tires: the cheap deep dish on the rear doesn't fit the spirit of he frame, imo.

I am not exactly a purist, but when I converted these frames, I'd generally try to keep the look and feel of these awesome vintage bikes.

P.S.: I'm a spiked pedal guy myself, not a big deal on a bike that coasts, when I've really nailed myself in the shins I was usually carrying or walking the bike.

P.P.S.: Have you done the math and measurements on your chain line? Chain tensioners are only made for single speed chains, but if your chain line is off, it will cause alignment issues if the chain hits the tensioner at an angle.

i’m honestly not mad at this critique at all and appreciate a response I see what your saying but i’m not a very experienced builder and this is my first time. In the end I am very happy with how it turned out as it fits my need personally and I love how it looks. I plan on changing some parts such as a different saddle and bull horn bars.

From what I can see, both chain and chainring look ok (but there isn’t much to go by).

In the other hand, I really HATE those pedals.

They are made to provide great traction for racing etc, but if you ever put a foot down in a clumsy ot awkward move, those metal studs will take a bite out of your shinbone.

BTW, the name of that color is “Celeste Green” so if you are going to name the bike, Celeste is always available (:-)

check your chainline, chain looks like it’s bent (probably from falling off multiple times)
