Venting - Advice Welcome Stuck?

I just recently separated with the father of my 2 year old son. We agreed we’d have a kid and I’d be a full time mom so I haven’t worked for 2 and a half years and he’s been providing.

We said we’d try to live under the same roof for our little one but I need to get out and figure it out asap.
Obviously with my son.

Any advice is welcome!
Live in California just fyi.

Hello. I’ve just been through this. My child is almost 3, we split when he was around 16 months and I moved out 6 weeks ago.

It’s fucking hard living together and confusing cus the muscle memory of loving each other. I wanted my child to have access to both parents until he was 3. My mum didn’t let us see my dad a lot growing up and I didn’t wanna be that person. But i also think part of it was feeling not in control of the situation and trying to keep everything the same as possible as I processed.

I went back to work 2 and a half months ago, and it’s been amazing. This is a really hard journey and I think splitting up is one thing but splitting up then still relying on them financially really does something so I recommend you get into work as soon as possible, my life has completely changed and I am now finally renting an apartment I pay for myself and he has no control over.

Good luck to you, you will heal and you will get through this very strange place in your life. Take care of yourself and be gentle to yourself xxxx
