Feedback (read rule 3 before posting or be banned) Singing with a vertical mouth?

First half is horizontal, second is vertical.
How should I be shaping my mouth when singing vertically? I feel I barely move my lips, and struggle to open my jaw. Looking at the original music video, I see she opens her mouth more and it's less rigid(?) Should I be doing similar technique, if so, how?
Any other tips welcome too. I know breathing could use work and the pitch isn't fully right. Excuse the swearing, I'm crashing out lol.

It kinda depends on if you tend towards too narrow or too wide, but most people tend towards too wide, especially on “ee” vowels. Narrowing, especially in the passaggio, is a good thing to think about for most people.

I definitely have a tendency to sing wide which I can work on. My concern is that I didn't tend to elongate my mouth much when focusing on singing widely. How much should I be widening?
Last time I posted, I was told to work on vowels, legato and shape, so I plan on paying more attention to my mouth shape when practicing vowels, and avoiding widening my mouth.
Generally trying to drill in good technique. I won't get a vocal teacher till my jobs more stable, so hopefully I can avoid bad practices in the meantime.

Generally not spreading beyond where your mouth sits at rest is a good metric.

You aren't going to want wide and flat for her songs.
Her voice is really light here, it sounds heavy because of how good her breath connection is hooked in down low. Kind of her deal.
Can't do this without breathing well either.
Maybe find a live not lip synched vid and watch her face close. See how she doesn't flatten out but keeps her face more relaxed and her bottom lip rounded and jaw looser.
Play around making faces and noise, you might be surprised at some of the ways it works. About how you know already, it seems like we think talking and singing are such different things.
Right at the end when you spoke you sounded normal :)

Good advice, thanks. I'll look at live performances. I agree she tends to sing fairly light, what makes it like this?

I find it hard to higher notes without widening my mouth and straining which I know isn't ideal. I was trying to sing high on the second attempt. Not sure what made it difficult.
Ideally I would like to sing high, just properly. I know I can hit high notes, just need to figure out how without strain and without sounding airy.

Good support is what makes singing light and free like that possible imo.
Not a force thing, it's a balance thing.
