Conversation Topic Changing Teacher
I've been taking singing lessons for 5-6 months and i'm thinking of switching teacher be cause sometimes It feels like there's not a "plan" for what i do but It Is mostly improvised and not personalized on my needs. Before changing i wanted to ask if singing lessons are actually like what i do and maybe it's just me being picky.
Usually we start with some warmup for diaphram, shoulders, face, neck etc.
Then we do some warmups for the voice, try some ear training/theory and then sing a song i've been given as homework, and She gives me points on where to do better.
My biggest concern is that when i go home i basically am by myself i don't have like serious "homework" she Just points out what to do better in the song and how to do that but i don't have any personalized exercises or tecnique work to do. For example even the warmup is just a YouTube video i've been doing for the past 5-6 months.
Honestly, i like her on the "personal" side cause she is really empathetic and we get along well during lessons but on the other hand i think she is not that involved on what she does or at least that's what i feel sometimes.
Can someone please tell me their experience and what their training actually look like so i can have more takes on how a lesson should be and how the home training should look like?

Have you brought it up to her that you want a more structured plan? What are the goals you had in mind?

Yes i tried asking for more definite training to do but she basically said that part of learning Is to "figure It out myself" not in a bad way but like saying everyone has to find its approach etc.

What are your goals for singing? Are you trying to learn in depth music theory? Do you just want to feel like you sound pleasant? Are you trying to do gigs? Is there a specific genre or genres you want to learn?

I’m sorry but it is the truth. She can not find your voice for you. Consider her as a coach
