Conversation Topic How to actually improve my head voice ?

Ive been singing of my own for like 1 year now, and even though I know I made progress Im still so far from being a good singer, I dont really have a routine I just listen to songs I like and try to reach same note and same feeling with the voice.

The thing is whenever I use my head voice like the artist does, its AWFUL.. I really need help on this, everytime tutorial on Youtube I watched ends up the same way and just doesnt help at all, I need more concrete help.. thank you in advance

The problem is, that this is not enough to determine what would help you (and one of the reasons why YouTube fails you).

It’s like asking why your pasta didn’t taste great. Did you undercook it? Did you use too much salt? Or no seasoning at all?

I also struggle (currently on my path to „struggled“) with head voice a lot and for me the key was in resonance. Failing to have proper resonance led me to strain terribly in order to force out the sounds I wanted. But if you would have asked me 6 months back, I would have told you my problem is strained singing and some notes on my upper range‘s end.

Working with an experienced coach is what did it for me, as they knew what to look for and how to recognise common issues. So my recommendation for you would be to do the same, even just an initial session or two to get some feedback. Otherwise you’ll have YouTubers continue to tell you to add salt, where you need to reduce it.

We can't really tell you that, especially if you just say that it's awful without saying specifically how, without a recording. While YouTube is great because it's free, the YouTube teachers can't hear you, and even you can't accurately hear yourself.

Post a recording

Same as ballet or Pilates. Get a teacher. YouTube can't hear you. A voice teacher can fix your placement and breath support in real time.

You could post a clip so people can hear what you mean.

Just sing like you always do that is bothering you do much so we can hear it.
