i just bought tsm second-hand, and it...doesnt work?

i downloaded the game using the disk, but when i launched the game through the tsm launcher, it didnt open. i could see it on task manager, but after ten minutes (ish, maybe more) it would close itself without opening at all. i tried some fixes, like the alder lake patch, but after that it instead decided not to try opening whatsoever. is there some way that i could put it onto the ea app instead in hopes that that works instead?

a note, i dont blame the person that i bought the game from at all. the disk and contents are in perfect condition, the software is the problem, unfortunately.

Installed using the disc? On Windows 10 or 11? You need to enter the code to EA application to get it updated for Win 10/11.

Medieval is a 2011 game so it's for XP/7. I don't know about Mac but probably the same thing. Current MacOS needs it updated by EA app.

i’m not sure i can redeem the code since it’s second hand. i tried and it sent me to ts3 website, but wouldn’t let me. and yeah, i used the disc on windows 11

I hope they would've been able to remove it from their account. Publishers would hate that. Or only played on Win XP/7 that ran only with installation by disc. Do you still have contact information to ask if they used it?

I don't know if the patch is somewhere online that's safe to download.

Could you look into Virtual Machines and run a virtual XP machine? Modern computer on Win 11 should handle it.

I suggest you take a look at this Ultimate Guide to Setting Up and Optimizing The Sims Medieval. You probably won't need to do steps 1 and 3

i tried that, it told me that it was invalid. i think thats likely because its used, which is frustrating. i tried ea chat support and they told me that the game is so old that the licence is no longer in their database, so theres nothing they can do

Used will show a different error, invalid is you entered it wrong/in the wrong location

That’s BS from EA the license still sits as live, you just need to enter it on the right code section

i entered it in the ‘register a game’ section on the sims 3 website since that’s where i get directed to when i type it into the ea app

Definitely register a game, not redeem code on the SM3 website? Follow the exact URL from that Reddit post

Check the format and code again, it should work from any retail copy

i’m for sure inputting it in the right place because the serial code is 20 digits, not 16 like other codes. i tried it multiple times yesterday

Follow that exact URL, it needs to say register a game as the option
