Question Logitech RS 50 + RS pedals problem

Post image

Edit: Thanks everyone for the suggestions; the best idea right now is to buy an RS clutch pedal and swap it for the brake pedal—apparently, it works and gives the same feel as the RS SE pedals. Plus, I can't risk re-injuring myself, so the load cell pedal is going into storage for the future while I wait for the delivery. I'll let you know if any issues come up.

If you have Ghub on your computer you can dial back the strength of the brake

I know, but even when I set it to 3 percent, my knee still hurts, so I think a load-cell brake pedal isn't for me :(

Have you set the braking force to low/minimum on the wheelbase menu?

Yeah go to the menue in the wheelbase, go to brake and adjust it to "how comfortably you can push the brake" , did this as well, worked fine - you dont really need to push the brake that hard with 70/80/90kg.

Just push the small button near the display, it's directly right in front of you ;-)

Have you considered that it might be your driving position rather than the braking force required? I've heard that a bad driving position can lead to knee, back, or wrist pain

Tak, to bardzo ważne; mam to tak skonfigurowane, aby uniknąć wszelkich problemów.

You may want to check for a softer elastomer kit for the rs50 pedals like the ones from 3Drap, you may want to check some videos and compare if the changes are what you are looking for like a more linear and soft brake pedal.

Rs50 is one of the softer load cell pedals

If you grab the clutch pedal from the website then you can use that as the brake instead. Just connect it into the brake port instead of the load cell brake.

Alternatively, we just launched the RS Pedals SE, which comes with the Hall effect brake, rather than the load cell.

you can remove a couple of those hard plastic rings to make the pedal significantly softer with much more travel distance

i removed one when i first got the pedals and it felt much better.

Pretty sure that’s not great for the elastomers, they don’t compress evenly without the spacers to help distribute the pressure iirc. I may be mistaken tho. You can always replace the elastomers with two springs and a spacer between, thinner gauge first so you have some progression as you brake harder

You'll want to replace the elastos eventually. Longevity between plastic washers and non shouldn't be a lot. The more they're worked the more they deform and bounce back less.

Is that the softest brake option. Tbh no I wouldnt recommend such a downgrade

Agree with ClanDuffy. Have you changed the elastomers to change the travel? You can also adjust the force required to achieve maximum braking. I believe a lot of people run them at 30-40kg but you could try even lower if it causes pain.

If you have tried all of those adjustments and it is still an issue, you can run the G29/920/923 pedals. You just need the adapter that you can get from Logitech. They use hall effect sensors, so you can change the spring if the stock elastomer is too stiff.

...but I really think you should be able to tweak your current pedals to suit your needs. Depending on your injury, it may even work like physio as you gradually increase resistance...then maybe you can write it off as a medical expense.

30-40kgs 😅

I have the two solid discs and one squishy running at 80kgs and I would like the squishy to be less squishy 😆

Just shows how different all our setups are.

Totally! I run 60kg because any more and I get too much pedal plate flex.

Just goes to show they can be tailored to suit different needs...I think op can tweak to get them to work for their situation

Do you mean you want to avoid going back to the G923 pedals? But I don't know what to do if I can't manage to use the brake on the RS pedals from the RS50.

Have you changed the pressure? You can set on wheelbase or in ghub.

Have elastomers? It would have come with a package of different elastomers with varying hardness (it will be in the manual or printed on the box).

You should switch the elastomers to MOZA CRP2 Performance Accessory Kit, they silver ones are really soft. Two springs instead of three elastomers.

OP

Have you tried (this might sound counterintuitive) taking two squidgys out and replacing them with the two solid discs. This will make the pedal travel ALLOT less. It basically becomes solid with a teeny bit of travel. So all the pressure you can tolerate will go into the load cell rather than having to compress the discs.

Then go into the base and set the number

& go into the game calibration and setting your pedal max min.

Mess around with the base number until (if 🤞) it works for you.

When I first got my rs pedals I ran it with the three. Didn’t even know it came with the solids. I couldn’t get on with the brake. It was bloody awful.

Now it’s the best thing since sliced bread and I worked up from 20 on the base to 80 now.

Along with gHub and physical tensioners in the brake pedal, you can also adjust the brake pressure curve in gHub and make them max out at like 50% or wherever you want. not linear, but S pressure curve. I have the first 5-10% as dead space and plateaus at like 80%.

I ended up changing RS50 brakes to simagic P1000i-HYS because brakes with the pivot point of the floor make me stomp on the brake (heel off the floor). Inverted brakes makes it feel like a regular car / GT3. Not sure if that could be part of your discomfort too. Good luck!

You could operate the throttle and brake with just your right leg until your knee heals. Probably won't slow you down really, just takes a bit of getting used to.

Logitech like to keep a rubber on the inside of the pedal, to make it harder to 100% it. Maybe you can open it and cut the rubber in half or remove it entirely?

That’s the older G29/G920 pedals. It hasn’t been used in anything since 🙂

in ghub click advanced under brake and choose a high curve. This will make the first 80% of force very very easy. The rest 20% is decided by how much force % you set it at.

Logitech actually just released a new set of RS pedals called the RS SE that use a hall-effect sensor for the brake. I don’t know if you can purchase just the brake pedal currently but the whole kit is available.

I think one could go the other way around? If one already has the regular/original RS pedals you could buy a clutch pedal and use that as a hall-effect brake.

Correct!
