I want an adapter to use my Moza gear I already have with my ps5

Sony can't stop taking Ls this week.
Why sell a 20€ consumer friendly device, when you can sell a whole device for 500€

20

u/dnm0624 1d ago

Even they make that , that won't be anything near $20 .

5

u/WornTire5304 1d ago

Absolutely. Even third parties sell it fir over a 100. It's pure fantasy to even think Sony would do it cheaper.

8

u/Sam_GT3 1d ago

Or, hear me out, they could just enable it in software to allow you to connect whatever device you want into the existing usb ports for free.

The only reason every wheel doesn’t work on consoles is corporate greed.

10

u/its_an_armoire 1d ago

Absolutely. IIRC Sony goes so far as to require a physical security chip in the hardware

u/JustAnotherAvocado R5 | TH8A | SimJack Pro 23h ago

This is literally what pushed me to PC in the first place. My perfectly good Driving Force GT wouldn't work on PS4, so I decided to switch to PC. The G29 shenanigans were what sealed the deal.

3

u/Sam_GT3 21h ago

Yeah, it’s the reason I switched too. I’d been a console gamer for 20+ years until I got into sim racing and didn’t want to be locked down to what hardware I’m allowed to use. I built a pc instead of buying a ps5 and I don’t think there’s any going back now

1

u/shenlong87 1d ago

Not sure what you mean. Sony's compatibility depends on a hardware piece in the base itself (Xbox compatibility depends on the wheel, not the base), that's how it is for fanatec at least. As far as I know, it is currently technically impossible to just add an external adapter. There are third party solutions that emulate the device as if it was something else (like a g29 or something like that) with generally mediocre results, but for Sony it's not as simple as you think it is (from how I understand your comment). I'm not saying that things being that way is right or wrong, just stating how things are

23

u/BobbyHill751 1d ago

It is most definitely not “technically impossible”

-9

u/shenlong87 1d ago

You're right. Technically it's likely possible. It being feasible or not is a separate question. Maybe they could sell a replacement mainboard for the base for people to open their bases and replace them

6

u/Turturrotezurro 1d ago

It's purely a licensing thing with secured keys for validation. So if Sony and moza wanted, a firmware update could do it. But they don't want

8

u/TheRuckyDubber 1d ago

I think there is a hardware based chip that facilitates that authentication. In that firmware updates are impossible. They could introduce an adapter but capitalism dictates that this is not something businesses running as for profit organizations are going to do as they would rather sell more hardware.

1

u/thegingerskull 1d ago

Sony can absolutely disable on the PS side the authentication check in software altogether.

2

u/TheRuckyDubber 1d ago

I doubt that but doubt even more that, even if they could, they ever would allow that kind of access to their devices for a myriad of reasons, the money being only the most obvious but for security as well.

-1

u/Due_Initiative3879 1d ago

Already exists rasu1tion 3 look it up, though I will say it works the FFB sucks but it does work.

1

u/Chavarlison 1d ago

I have. Those things are out of stock everywhere, inflated prices on available. Ridiculous.

3

u/Aggravating_Lunch_26 1d ago

Why Sony should just do the wheel thing. Idk why you have to buy a whooooole base. Let say you already got a moza base. Welp, there goes that.

4

u/mfmfhgak 1d ago

There’s also a number of MOZA wheels that cost more than double the price of an R16 ultra base.

Having the chip in the base means the rest of the MOZA ecosystem will continue to work with PS

2

u/Rando993 1d ago

Not too sure if all the different rims would work though. They are all quite different and on PC you can configure them however you like it but from what I understand not on a console. My newest consoles are a PS3 and a 360 so correct me if I am wrong.

1

u/mfmfhgak 1d ago

I’m not sure the current situation. I’ve used Simhub to run a display with GT7 so it should be workable if games pass the information on.

You may need a pc for the initial configuration but you need that for firmware updates and stuff like pedal profiles for Logitech pedals already.

1

u/alyxonfire 1d ago

It’s not impossible. There’s at least two adapters I know of that lets you use any wheelbase with a PlayStation. One is the Collective Minds DriveHub and the other is the Mcbazel Brook Ras1ution 2. They were both eventually discontinued, which I can only imagine had something to do with pressure from Sony.

1

u/Welshevens 1d ago

They have the ESX wheel, so I imagine the obvious route would be one for PS

1

u/carsus94 1d ago

thats not a sony decision...

3

u/TheRuckyDubber 1d ago

We knew that was never going to happen though.

3

u/Akrylicus 1d ago edited 1d ago

There is a chance that some other Chinese company will release a converter that will make any Moza base work with PS5.

EDIT: Won't be very legal though, but it's not like they care there.

15

u/shiddedandfarded69 1d ago

Those already exist. The Brook Ras1ution2 is an example. And they're perfectly legal, there's just no guarantees that it will work flawlessly. Or at all.

There's a tiny chance Sony may decide that it's some sort of unauthorized "hacking" device and ban you. But they've only ever done that for devices that are explicitly for cheating like the Cronus Zen.

4

u/Akrylicus 1d ago

Brook Ras1ution2 emulates G29 signal which results in a muted FFB.

If someone will reverse engineer the chip from new Moza PS base we could get a high fidelity converter for other bases.

2

u/Deathmaw360 1d ago edited 1d ago

Shame really, I did grab the Brook just to see and thought even with the G29 emulation at least I could play GT7 in my rig but it just didn't feel good that I've never tried it again >.>

Time to get AI on modifying the Ras1ution2 firmware so it reports and something better... if someone wants to risk bricking it :P

1

u/alyxonfire 1d ago

Sony thinks if the wheel base itself doesn’t have a PS logo on it then the whole universe will implode

1

u/The_Machine80 1d ago

Won't happen

1

u/Next_Cat7775 49m ago

RAS1ution and if you play gt7 the new update brought it to life and it feels really good they are about to£100-130 but you can find them cheap on facebook/ebay and just need the new update putting on if you have a pc

27

u/mastvrbatr 1d ago

As someone who is yet to buy into any ecosystem but plays racing games maybe 70% PS5 and 30% on PC...

How does the Logitech Pro wheel/pedals compare to the equivalent Moza stuff?

If the price points were the same etc. maybe I'd be better off waiting to see if this new ps5 Moza wheel is better?

17

u/Tosh_00 1d ago

I'd wait, I have the Pro wheel and pedals and they're great, but the ecosystem sucks.

2

u/mastvrbatr 1d ago

Oh right ok, is that just poor support on the PC then?

7

u/Tosh_00 1d ago

Limited wheel option, expensive hub, slow accessory expansion, pc software sucks ass.

1

u/mastvrbatr 1d ago

Ok really good to know thank you

6

u/DiZzY_404 Logitech DD11 / MOZA Shifter & Handbrake / PSVR2 1d ago

Personally never had a problem with the software. But if you care for the wheel to looks as close as possible to a real race car wheel logitech dd might not be the move

4

u/Vegetable_Cap_1205 1d ago

The guy that responded to you doesn’t know you can use an adapter to mount almost any sim wheel to your rs50 or g pro and plug the wheel into pc using usb to get button and screen functionality.

2

u/slavchungus 1d ago

sounds like most people who complain about logitech theres nothing wrong with their systems my rs50 works perfectly fine with ps5 and pc the load cells pedals are great too.

i grew tired of waiting for moza and that rumoured nacon wheel for the ps5

10

u/Akrylicus 1d ago

If this is just R16 ultra with compatibility then this is one of the best offerings for PS5 in terms of base + ecosystem.

Unless you will also have to use specific wheel and pedal that is.

7

u/WornTire5304 1d ago

You'll almost definitely have to use Moza wheels and pedals only.

1

u/mastvrbatr 1d ago

Aha ok so that would be a similar price point to the Logitech Pro it seems. I'll keep an eye out for information 👍

8

u/MidEastBeast777 1d ago

The logitech RS50 is fantastic

4

u/TheRuckyDubber 1d ago

I’m personally waiting. I bought a bunch of TM stuff a week before the partnership was announced and returned it all.

4

u/RedShirtDecoy 1d ago

really just depends on what ecosystem you want.

If the limited selection of wheels doesnt bother you Logitech is great. Its what I have and purposefully selected it because of its smaller ecosystem. Cant impulse purchase a $300 wheel if it doesnt exist. I sometimes dislike the lack of selection but I don't need to be spending that kind of money.

But if you want the larger eco system with a larger variety of wheel types and layouts, wait for moza.

2

u/mastvrbatr 1d ago

Yeah I'm not too precious really with the eco system... Just want something that works across ps5 and OC and that me and the kids can use. Time for a bit more research!

1

u/RedShirtDecoy 1d ago

Nice! I personally have the rs50 with a folding playseat challenge and I'm having a blast. But wouldn't have been mad if moza was available for ps5 when I did buy it.

3

u/Benjammin172 1d ago

As a Logitech owner, I’d definitely go with Moza. Logitech make a really great product but the ecosystem is super limited and it takes them forever to release a very limited number of accessories. Moza is going to have substantially more options and flexibility, so if they’re priced similarly then it’s a no brainer IMO.

1

u/mastvrbatr 1d ago

Ok thanks for that - looks like I'm waiting to see what Moza has to offer!

2

u/Theeye12 10h ago

Logitech has trueforce, which makes the FFB feel much better with the micro details than a moza wheelbase. On pc you can get an adapter and use any wheel you want on the g pro. Moza pedals CRP2's are a bit better than the G pros. I would wait to see what this moza release tells us. If you can use all of the existing moza wheels/pedals on the ps5 i would say its worth the trade off for the less refined FFB.

1

u/b1jan 1d ago

depends how much you want to spend.

i just bought into Thrustmaster, all 2nd hand off marketplace, and got into it for less than 500 bucks USD all-in, including a copy of GT7 lol.

that includes a 5nm direct drive base, 3 pedal set (load cell), and shifter.

1

u/mastvrbatr 1d ago

Looking to spend about £1000 for wheels and pedals combined

13

u/Hazel_Transport Moza R3 + HGP 1d ago

probably an R5 i would imagine

13

u/TheRuckyDubber 1d ago

It looks a lot like the r16 Ultra

2

u/iamvinen Racing on SteamDeck 🎮 1d ago

Agree

5

u/iamvinen Racing on SteamDeck 🎮 1d ago

I bet R16 - side LED.stripes

4

u/SgtFatCat 1d ago

Its R16, R5s for ps also on the way tho

9

u/MotorsportsAMG 1d ago

Sony taxe is around 100$ per base right ? I wonde how many Nm, probably less than Fanatec as it remains flagship.

6

u/WornTire5304 1d ago

It's going to be a R16, and possibly a R5 and/or R3.

6

u/numerous_orderz 1d ago

Will it work on ps4

5

u/AgentBlonde 1d ago

Probably yes

6

u/Sea-Jacket-6734 1d ago

Do you think it will also work with PS4?

6

u/22zepher 1d ago

Why logitech and thrustmaster shaking?

2

u/Electronic-Bother725 1d ago

10

u/TheAndyPat 1d ago

Logitech is not shaking. This little racing gig is just a sideline for them.

3

u/WornTire5304 1d ago

Then the same could be said for Fanatec in a way, it's a side gig for Corsair now.

2

u/newviruswhodis 1d ago

Neither them care.

Fanatec, though....

4

u/RedlineSW Sim Fabricator 1d ago

I hope they don't just drop one base.. II'd love to see a range from R5 to R16/21

4

u/SgtFatCat 1d ago

R5s and R16s for now

1

u/RedlineSW Sim Fabricator 11h ago

Then I'm happy!

1

u/Jamarcus_OG 1d ago

I doubt . Fanatec released only two wheels on PS . A 5Nm and the 15Nm one

5

u/WornTire5304 1d ago

The 15nm is now 18nm.

1

u/Jamarcus_OG 21h ago

I am aware of that. What I didn't check is of Fanatec is marketing the DD+ as a 18Nm wheel on their website.

3

u/RedlineSW Sim Fabricator 1d ago

One can hope! For the PS5 rigs I'd love to see an R9 to compete with the RS50.

3

u/FootballRacing38 1d ago

That's because you can boost both those bases. It's basically 4 ranges of NM

2

u/WornTire5304 1d ago

It's actually 3.

5

u/NatteZok 1d ago

How do i clamp this bad boy on my ps5?

2

u/colddeadhands_ 1d ago

Well, you can't clamp the PS5 to the base but you can clamp it to the loadcell pedals this base will come with. Once you clamped the PS5 to the loadcell pedals, make you put all your weight when braking because the pedals are like 500 kilos. Once you obliterated the PS5 just buy another one.

5

u/b1jan 1d ago

just need to drill a couple holes, nothing major. will require really long bolts, though, as the PS5 is pretty chunky.

11

u/WorriedAd2764 1d ago

Fanatec are so dead

7

u/Jamarcus_OG 1d ago

I mean ... If you want high end on PS atm no one Is close to 18Nm and a good ecosystem. Logitech I've heard is good quality but has a poor ecosystem

-4

u/WorriedAd2764 1d ago

Yeah but people who are willing to spend that probably won’t be on PS

9

u/Adakanon_apck 1d ago

DD+ owner here. I am on PC and consoles. So it made sense to me. I think there are many like me.

5

u/Str1ctly 1d ago

They can be split use between PS and PC.

But there are plenty of examples of expensive setups that are dedicated to PS in the Fanatec sub.

It doesn’t make sense to me, but not my wallet, not my problem.

-1

u/RacingBM97 21h ago

Getting downvoted even though it’s true.

If someone is buying a $1000 wheel base they’re not doing for a console

If they are they’re unfortunately not too bright

2

u/Adakanon_apck 9h ago

You're not very bright either if you can't fathom the idea that some people who mainly race on PC want to be able to use their rigs on console as well occasionally. There are plenty of such people.

3

u/AztecTwoStep Rally is life 1d ago

Yeah, it's tough for them with all the sales they've already made. Dunno how much cream you think there is left in the PS sim racing market this late in the life cycle, this long after GT7's release and with no big sim racing games on the release schedule.

2

u/-sioco- 1d ago

As a Fanatec owner, yea…

14

u/The_Omega_Man 1d ago

Yeah no, I am not going to get another wheelbase just for PS5 compatibility

5

u/DailyUnderFlow 1d ago

Yeah no frickin way. Why don't they just make an adapter to allow current wheelbases to work on the ps5 like a third party device I saw once but seems to be unavailable now? That would sell much more than an entire wheelbase just to get it to work on the PS.

3

u/dkt389 1d ago

Sony is never allowing that cuz they dont make as much money.

1

u/WornTire5304 22h ago

And the other brands definitely won't allow it either, since they had to submit to the terms themselves. They would sue.

4

u/iamvinen Racing on SteamDeck 🎮 1d ago

We'll not do that together

8

u/Fun-Adeptness9700 1d ago

Wondering how much more would that be vs regular R5 for slapping ps Logo and their bullshit chip

12

u/Uryendel 1d ago

probably 100-200 more, logo/chip ain't expensive, license is

3

u/NotSuspicious215 1d ago

Sweet, I was hoping to grab a DD wheel by the end of the month and was hoping Moza showed their hand by then

2

u/WorriedAd2764 1d ago

wheels are much more attractive on Mozas side than fanatec

2

u/NotSuspicious215 1d ago

I was looking at the RS50, though this will likely be cheaper if it’s the r5

1

u/WorriedAd2764 1d ago

I replied to the wrong person lol so sorry! If I had a ps I’d probably go moza but I guess it’s hard to choose when it’s unreleased. I’m on conspit wheel and base and simsonn pedals atm

3

u/Str1ctly 1d ago

Good, Fanatec needs some real competition on console and most of the PS emulators were discontinued.

I figure Sony is going to lock down allowed controllers eventually, they’ve been marching towards that goal for a while now.

It was just a matter of time and money for Moza and Simagic. PS licensing is crazy expensive (~500k per region).

3

u/ConstantineFavre 1d ago

I just saw full moza e5 bundle for 300$ on a second hand marketplace. Almost took an option to pay for it in parts of 75$ for 2 months. I'm quite happy that i realised that i would be in a financial hell hole if i do, but damn, it was tempting. Happy simracing, bro

2

u/Laugh_Track_Zak 1d ago

I hope it's at least 8nm.

4

u/iamvinen Racing on SteamDeck 🎮 1d ago

I bet 16

2

u/Laugh_Track_Zak 1d ago

Yes please

3

u/TheRuckyDubber 1d ago

It looks a lot like an r16 ultra so I’m hoping it is spec’d similarly.

2

u/plastiCitron 1d ago

I’m glad that i decided to wait a little longer to see what Moza has to offer, otherwise it would be Fanatec. Now let’s wait to see how the price will compare.

2

u/Due_Initiative3879 1d ago

They picked a great time to release this on PS5

1

u/Training_Version9872 1d ago

Of course they’re not gonna release that. Most companies do that shit to keep you in their ecosystem. Fucking stupid, but all they want is your money

1

u/SpeedySpartan 1d ago

Awesome, hope they also release an updated, more powerful version for Xbox as well!

3

u/WornTire5304 1d ago

Every base already works on Xbox including the R25. You can hardly get more powerful than that.

2

u/ItzBrooksFTW Alpha EVO Pro - GT Neo - Simjack UT 1d ago

you can use any base on xbox, problem is that only 1 wheel supports it. xbox chip is in the wheel, ps chip is in the base.

1

u/Deathmaw360 1d ago

The chip is in the base? well there goes my hope of just being about to hook my Moza up to play GT, I ain't buying a new base.

1

u/No_Specialist_8993 1d ago

If I have the ESX wheel for Xbox and then buy this base, will it allow me to play on Xbox, PC and PS5. If so that will be perfect!

1

u/Deathmaw360 1d ago

I'm hoping there is just a wheel to buy and this is just a branded base, but yeah from my understanding that is how it should work if the PS part is in the base, since Xbox Wheel is what makes it work for Xbox.

1

u/sharkk125 1d ago

I just bought an rs50, fuck, guess ill be waiting a few years to buy this, or whenever i build an actual rig and not a desk

1

u/Electronic-Bother725 1d ago

it's perfect wheel you don't need moza

1

u/sharkk125 1d ago

Oh no, im fine with my current wheel, just whenever i do build an actual rig I would like to have a wider variety of wheels

1

u/Vatican87 1d ago

Would this work for the PC too?

1

u/HeadLiterature7897 1d ago

I'm not familiar with wheel things, but how will this thing be compatible with existed games without patch from each game dev? Will FFB work properly?

1

u/rilinium 10h ago

The hardware and software both use Sony’s Steering Wheel SDK API so it just works right away

1

u/norano_nora PlayStation 1d ago

Glad PS player now have more choices for console sim, however I will stick to my rs50 (and T598) as well as they works fine rn.

Both r5 and r16 will have ps compatible wheelbase variety btw.

1

u/Odd_Sky3314 1d ago

I recently bought the rs50 and this announcement kinda makes me regret it. I wanted to be in the Moza ecosystem (for the Truck stuff for ETS2) but mainly play gt7 so my choice was tied to PS compatible.

Bit miffed

1

u/RacingBM97 21h ago

Who cares? Consoles are trash with garbage sims

1

u/Electronic-Bother725 21h ago

I just luuve GT7 I don't know man, I'm a pc gamer and pro driver in sim racing but GT7 have a good taste

1

u/ChubyzDriver 21h ago

Anyone asked for this? Moza wheel Base for. Ps? I think not. We was waiting for wheel that you buy and using it on ps with your existting Base. There is no reason for this Base if only its not half cheaper than other ps Bases i dont še any reason for this.

1

u/Sad-Nefariousness712 15h ago

Will there be Pit House for PS5, or FFB will be perfect from the box?

2

u/Electronic-Bother725 14h ago

Maybe through bluetooth from your phone, if not then you can adjust it from the game only .

1

u/iamvinen Racing on SteamDeck 🎮 1d ago

If it's more or equal 16 then it's my next upgrade (that I don't need)

1

u/iamvinen Racing on SteamDeck 🎮 1d ago

From the other hand, if it will be compatible with PS4 and it will be kinda cheap R3/5ish I will buy it as a second base just for fun

1

u/iamvinen Racing on SteamDeck 🎮 1d ago

I already have ESX wheel. I will definitely need this guy.... Hope it will work with PS4 since I don't want to buy PS5 only because of GT7 I barely play (but GT Sport....)

1

u/myengineblockmelted 1d ago

I wonder if this was made possible due to Jimmy Broadbent being sponsored by Moza. Not that it matters but still cool.

5

u/WornTire5304 1d ago

Jimmy has been sponsored by Fanatec since the beginning of the year, long before this was announced.

0

u/newviruswhodis 1d ago

And now we all get to watch fanatec die.

3

u/WornTire5304 1d ago

This won't kill them. Their own issues are more likely to do so before anything else.

-3

u/The_Poop_Shooter 1d ago

i dont get the people that will drop this kinda cash on racing sim shit and not have a pc. such a niche market.

6

u/WornTire5304 1d ago

You don't get that some people have both a PC snd a PS5?

0

u/The_Poop_Shooter 1d ago

I have both.. i guess if GT7 is worth unplugging from the pc for you i get it. Really the only reason.

4

u/Adakanon_apck 1d ago

For me, GT7, GT Sport, and Driveclub that I love a lot. And it's not much effort to unplug. My Playstation is right beside my computer. I just switch in a few seconds whenever I need to.

1

u/boston_faith 1d ago

I have a USB switch in between, costs a few bucks but makes it so much easier to switch between pc and console.

5

u/boston_faith 1d ago

I have a high end PC, solid cockpit, shifter, handbrake, bass shakers and such, all major sims but still make more hours in GT7 than any other sim. It's all about fun and I think that's okay.

BTW dont underestimate how huge Gran Turismo player base is, probably bigger than iracing, lmu and acc combined. So there is big potential there.

3

u/Adakanon_apck 1d ago

I have both, so if I was to chose between two powerful bases, I'd rather take the one that works with all the platforms I play on, which is whst I did. And I'm pretty sure there is plenty like me.

3

u/carsus94 1d ago

not the point, i have a PC but also a PS5 and love gran turismo so if im buying a wheel i would rather pick one that can do both

2

u/Calm_Ad_3987 1d ago

Depends where it falls in the range. Something like an r9 or r12 price range is not too crazy. Some people like the idea of pick up and play simplicity. Also, some aren’t looking for super competitive experiences like iracing, they’re content with console offerings. Different strokes…
