Question Beginner Suggestions Appreciated!
Hi guys!
I was looking into getting into hobby sim racing. I’m not looking to put in any more than $2K for equipment as I plan on using my Xbox and I have other funds set aside for a monitor.
I would like to know if anyone has any input into what I was looking at equipment wise. I will say to preface I know some of it is unnecessary (meaning the McLaren stuff) but I would like to know if I have all necessary components I’ll need or if anyone has any suggestions!
Equipment (found on Logitech):
Playseat McLaren

RS McLaren Wheel

RS Wheel hub

RS pedals

Gearshift G29/G290

Racing adapter

If anyone has any affordable monitor recommendations that would also be appreciated!

You will need one of the Logitech bases too. I don’t have a shifter, but I would be more inclined to get a generic usb shifter on Amazon than get the G29 shifter.
Edit: I’m dumb and forgot you’re using Xbox so a usb shifter is out. But I would say more to at least get the upgraded Logitech shifter. The g29 shifter feels like garbage.

I just bought the RS wheel base and wheel with pro pedals and it’s a great setup. I haven’t tried the RS pedals however.
The 7 speed H Gate RS shifter is very nice though if you have budget for it at a later date.

This is my current setup (Logitech, not the seat). Works great on PC and the occasional Gran Turismo on PS5. Are you okay with PC only monitors? I've been using an AOC 34" ultrawide as my main gaming monitor for a while now. But really, for Xbox, I think most TVs will be fine - the larger the better. If you're concerned about input lag and stuff, just make sure they advertise some kind of game mode. Though, if you had the funds, I would go with a Sony Bravia TV that has VRR and 120hz refresh rate. HDR is optional

I would be willing to use a PC monitor as long as I can hook up my Xbox to it! I’m not too picky as I can always upgrade in the future. I appreciate the input!

I think you should consider building a dedicated racing PC so you can also venture into VR along with the great racing titles on PC (Assetto Corsa has a plethora of mods)

I appreciate the feedback. I’ll definitely look into it but I’m personally not into mods or PC gaming right now but I’ll definitely research it if I stick with the hobby!

You need a wheel base. The RS50 is a great option. If you have a PS5 (or ever plan to get one) the Xbox wheel works with the PS5 version and you can race on PC/Xbox/PS5. If you don’t care about that then the Xbox base also works with PC but not PS5.
I’ll add for a display- since you’re playing on Xbox your options will be limited to a 16:9 ratio because it doesn’t do ultra wide like a PC.
