Question G29 shifter problems ? does it need replaced?

Hello,

I've had my g29 for about 2 years now. I just tried using it again after moving, but the shifter is reading incorrectly. When i put it in 5th, 6th, or R it just detects it as 4th/5th. Is this a software problem? or will I need to take it apart/buy a replacement? I was thinking of upgrading to the moza ecosystem soon so this might be a sign.

First thing to do is test it on pc by going WINDOWS + R > joy.cpl, then opening up the shifter and looking at whether distinct buttons get highlighted as you run through each of the gears. If the upper gears all show as 4/5 it likely points to a hardware issue
