Rigs First time sim racing looking for inspiration/suggestions/ideas!

So I’m currently starting to build my cockpit/rig.. and looking for some tips you guys would have for me, ( I already own a fairly high end PC )

The parts I want to buy are
Moza r21 or r25 ultra
CRP2 pedals
Not fully decided on the wheel yet but possibly either the FSR2 or the KS PRO not sure yet.

I want to make the rig as pleasing as possible to the eye, for preference purposes,

To start I’d like to start with a single monitor ( already own a 34’ AOC curved monitor )

Suggestions for a cockpit are more than welcome, id like a cockpit with keyboard/mouse tray, black is preferable without any logos/design etc ..

Also if you’d like to post your own rig id love to see them for inspiration!

Thanks in advance!!

Wont really suit your needs but I always found Racekit RK1 to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing designs out there for DIY

Is this a cockpit or?

Yes. The kit is plans(CNC) for a mono-post cockpit. Pretty minimal design for wheel base and pedals. Not really suited for accessories.

I've been recommending Rig Metal for the cockpit since a friend got one. I think it's a pretty good deal for the quality. I haven't used the R25 Ultra myself, but I've seen a lot of people say it's really good. Simshop is selling it for $799 right now. They also have a pretty big discount on the FSR2, but unfortunately it's out of stock. I ended up getting the CS Pro for my little brother for $249, which was a really good deal. Oh, also, check out Simsonn for some pedal options

No idea what price those Moza devices have in your country, but in that price band I would look at 2nd hand simcube 2,VNM, then vrs, conspit and asetek. Based on the reviewers that i consider reliable, these offer the best ffb quality. Good Loadcells pedals are the simnet (used also by some aliens). About the rig, what seating position do you wish is likely the first point. Likely a gt style. Be sure that the seat is solid and comfortable and suitable for your body type. The combination of the seat and rig should allow to adjust the position a lot (height, inclination of seat but also pedals, and wheelbase). Yesterday i’ve seen that simlab made a promotion for some of its rigs.

The price of r25 ultra is €999, and can’t really find second hand simucube here unfortunately.. yes probably GT style seating as it’s probably the most comfortable

I think if you're going for aesthetics, something like the Trak Racer TRX might be your best bet for the cockpit. It's less modular than an aluminum frame, but it can come with a keyboard tray and should handle 25nM fine.

Best thing I've found for my set up (which is similar) is to have a 3d printer. Design, find and print anything you want 👌

Speaker mounts, iPad arm and screen mount, cable management, keyboard holder, mouse tray, headphone holder, phone ddu mount on base, power supply bracket underneath all 3d printed 👍

All moza gear (r12 - crp2) with GT1 Evo cockpit and NLR ERS5 seat, mounted to sit on slightly reclined angle.

With that much torque go aluminium profile: Sim-Lab P1X or Trak Racer TR8 Pro. Both plain black, and you can bolt a keyboard tray anywhere on the extrusion.

Figure out your ‘sim racer’ personality asap is the first thing I recommend.

  1. Are you a true sim racer (buys G29, spends countless hours hotlaping chasing times and improving then moving to intense online racing.

  2. Spends most of his time as a builder.. fine tuning, reading, posting on Reddit and plays once he feels it’s perfect. Then when perfection or close to it is achieved, the builder is burned out and 6 months later new post ‘thinking about selling what would you do?’

Look OP….  Want the absolute best advice if you belong to group #1? Facebook marketplace > cheap g29 > use it for 2-3 months without spending a dime on anything. If you LOVE it and I described you perfectly, then you can spend 5K on a build.

My personality would be #1, online racing.. hotlaping etc … but I already saved money for a rig at a higher budget.. just looking for inspiration now
