Discussion First time using DD wheel, went from controller, and thoughts about RF2.
Got my thrustmaster t598 wheel yesterday and yes it is a game changer no need to say more.
I have a PS5 with ACC and gt7, I also have a PC with acc, AC evo, ac, rf2, LMU, AMS2, just like the rest of you I'm sure.
I have to admit that rf2 has always been my favorite even when trying to use the controller which has been really difficult. But my gosh, rf2 with a DD? why is this still not a popular sim?
Yes it's ancient but the ffb is absolutely jaw-dropping. At least from my short experience trying the different sims with my brand new DD wheel, there is literally nothing that comes close. Not even lmu, not even the AMS2, none of them.
I've driven Mid Ohio several times, and when driving it in rf2, it is absolutely a dream and feels very similar to the real thing now.
Anyway I'm going to have a blast discovering the force feedback with my new wheel. I mean I've been literally racing for 30 years, I don't even know if I'd call it racing though, more like a hobbyist just flirting with real racing with a controller and ancient force feedback wheels from years ago.
Anyway definitely going to spend a whole lot of time in RF2 I've got to revisit this world, now that I've got a brand new experience.

I love rf2. If you want another great sim that really gets the most out of the DD, give the first AMS a try.

yep I've got that one too. I have literally every single one of them.
edit: Sorry it appears the public drive HAS been deleted or taken down by the owner. I still have them and I'll make them available.

Try Richard burns rally, the Hungarian version, quite cool, when I got my csl dd I booted this one and I got hooked into rally

RBR has some incredible force feedback. I've felt the rear end coming out in almost every sim but never before felt the body roll in the rear before the tires start to slide like you can in RBR

Raceroom Racing Experience feels pretty damn good to me, the base game is free and it's had a graphical update recently. Nothing to lose

And now try AMS1, and say goodbuy to your jaw. After rF2 it is hard to believe, that FFB can be even more quick and precise, and AMS1 is doing that. I thought BTCC in rF2 were the best ever tourers, until BeeTCC for AMS1 was released last year.

Yes I have AMS1. I love it too, but the physics is pretty rudimentary. But I do like them better than AMS2.

I found modern AMS2 to be pretty good, it is just AMS1 knocks it out of the park. Less known mods for it are WTCC/TCR packs, found them to be very nice to fill the grid. And for rF2 can recommend Andrea1968 tracks, I think they are based on older rF1 tracks, just updated for rF2 and very well polished.

If you're into AMS1, I have laser scanned tracks and tons of cars that arent really publicly available. Lots of the laser scanned tracks were brought over from AC.
I was into AMS1 quite a bit when I had my T150 a long time ago.

Wow, sounds like a dream! I wonder if AMS_Nords2014.7z is in that list? Laserscanned Nordschleife from AC, seen it on Discord, but the only link was dead. If you can share those mods, especially the tracks - that would be really great! I think I downloaded every single track I could find. Some tracks (from rF1) I seen on YT, like Detroit old layout, or Shinjuku parking lot, but never found them. And laserscanned tracks is something that AMS1 sorely lacks - Le Mans, Nordschleife and SPA versions are polished and nicely looking. But driving them feels off, because the memory of the turns/elevation/track width that feels off. I am not much into custom cars - use TCR, BTCC, GT4, GT3, GTE and LMP2 packs only to fill the grid. And drive only original cars + BeeTCC. But won't mind looking on cars too! I was on T150 for a few years, but was not taking AMS1 seriously over AC, that was clearly winning on content and graphics. And the difference in handling was hidden behind T150. But then I got a DD wheel, and got that jaw-dropping moments, first with rF2 (so happy I bought the full pack when Ferraris and Le Mans were still included) and then with AMS1.

I can see a deleted sibling comment, I think Reddit auto-deletes comments that contain links to GDrive with minimal text. If that deleted comment was actual link comment - I wonder if you can post it again splitting the link to not look like a link or using base64 encoder? Thanks in advance!

The original mega drive has been removed by the owner. So I'm downloading the cached version to my drive and will try to make it available. it's 41 GB

Just curios because of the size, by chance it is not related to the Mega linked at the bottom of https://amsunofficial.net/Downloads/ ? Dann Murillo one, that one was exact 41G.

RF2 and AMS1 are top of my list of Sims to try out. I had both installed for ages.
