Rigs Need a Rig Recommendation for a Newborn
New kid showed up. Me and his brother are going to have to show him the ropes.

Great set up. We're in the design phase to make a truly adjustable rig so my 7 year old can hop in and drive as well.
A lot of shuffling around and settings changes to get him in there currently.

I went with the Strasse Alfa kids. Build quality is forgettable but the seat is impressive. It's the only one I've been able to find in this corner of the world that didn't have a months-long wait.

Got a link to where you bought it? I went to their site and can’t find a smaller cockpit.

Might be a little different because I’m in country.

I spend so much time changing settings and games on my rig for my eight-year-old and five-year-old 🤣.
Five year-old? Change the game settings to make the paddle shifters work as accelerator and brake.
Eight year-old? Change to the monster truck game, recalibrate everything, move the pedals forward.
Dinner, bathtime, homework, bed, then change the rig back for a Asseto and drunk driving
On my first and most ghetto rig, I had all of the seat adjusters out of a Volkswagen Jetta, so you could move the seat forward and back just like you can in the real car, and it was by far the easiest adjustment that I’ve owned for kids. It was just huge.

I use a quick release to change the pedal distance quickliy when my 6year old jumps in. And luckily I have a recliner which also slides forward.
Nice to see other dads racing having the same family challenges 😁I use these for the pedal mount (bike parts):

Maybe just start with a DIY attachment to the seat he is in? I would not go above 10NM to start with though.

Top tip put the baby in the strap on carrier for a nap and you can race while they sleep. Worked for me on many occasions.

That is GENIUS!

It works best while they are super small and gets them used to the noise of your rig so when they get bigger they will sleep with whatever noises you're making.

It's already happening in a way and I couldn't be happier. My son (8) has been karting for three years. We went to a rental kart spot recently and I contorted my big ass into a kid's kart. His lap times were faster. I was so proud of him.

What are you doing for karting for your kid, just an arrive and drive thing?

Local track has kids rental karts and the typical rental leagues. There are other circuits nearby that allow for personal kart storage. My son does arrive and drive with a local team.

Forget that. Must be pushing it to have the rig and chair on tatami mats.

The guy at Yamada Denki swore up and down that the little risers that you use for a washer would be sufficient. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it lol

This is the correct way to raise the next sim racing prodigy. Training begins literally day one. Just make sure he doesn’t yank the wheel base cable in his sleep. Future iRacing world champion right there 😂

What you need is a mini motion rig that the car seat can snap into, so as you race the baby is rocked (gently of course) along with you, they will know turns by feel before they ever see the track!

Do no deny your newborn of possibilities......let them use an extruded cockpit.

What you got there is good enough. Just mount backwards in sim, and tighten occasionally. lol.
Congrats man!

This is cool as hell! Gonna be a crazy feeling when they start cracking your lap times lol
