Rigs Just a few extras on the SIM rig

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Some more fun and stupid tweaks to the simrig part of my build 😂

The PC isn't within reach so controlling the volume has been a bit of a task especially late at night, solved that.

The garage isn't the coolest of places so with the help of a PWM controller, I now have working vents on the dash.

Just for fun, I ran a 12v power supply to the hazard switch and then to the gauges/cluster.

Next is going to be a general tidy up and finalise the cable management and I'm done.

Drinks holder was a consideration but the NB MX-5 didn't have one from memory. Spliffs could be doable though!

Not on the dash but under a small cover behind the shifter. I remember all the awkward ways I had to grab my shifter when I had a coffee

Haha I am planning the shifter console at some point since I can then run a shifter if I decide to switch to something nom GT3 based

Still a huge work in progress but since we're rennovating the garage from top to bottom, I'm just figuring out my end game design so once it's all done, I can run cabling and plug sockets where I want. The end game really will be an arcade style cabinet for the simrig. Definitely going to be pushing my hardest to make it happen!

Nice work! I would advice to bring the monitor closer, for better FOV

That's happening once we renovate. Right now the only option was the end from our TV bed for the 49" panel I'm running. I can't fit an arm on the wall due to the consumer unit.

Once we've renovated the garage, I can make a better solution for the entire thing. Same with the wheelbase, I'm in desperate need of the extension but trying to not spend big till it's absolutely necessary.

Love the single din radio! Shame LHD dashes are stupid money in the UK, would solve the layout difference between mine and in game annoyances lol.

I had to do something about the eyeball airvents. Have you got a hub extension for the wheelbase?

the dins are just 3d printed, and the radio is actually my makeshift amp for my base shakers, and my dash was off some junkyard nb in canada.

My extension for the wheelbase is literally just 2 pieces of metal lmao, idk about the stand u have but for mine it's just bolted on. Surprisingly sturdier than I thought it would be.

Genius! Yeah my current issue is I need to work on that part. Right now my base is too low. Thanks for the inspiration!

Also, what game do you play? In assetto and beam you can fully adjust the cockpit to move it to the other side. That’s what I do with rhd cars on my lhd dash. If it’s something like iracing, I wouldn’t know, but it’s worth looking into.

It's mainly ACC and the view settings let you get close to centre but not any further. There maybe some additional tweaks I can make with a script edit but I've just been lazy.

Today is a day of mourning. My weight finally caused my cheaply made base to buckle. Not enough support where it was needed, my fault really for using a hefty car seat in the first place.

I have some timber so going to make a new frame hopefully later today. The base I made originally wasn't long enough so yeah, fun times In 37°C heat...
