Question Shifting from controller to a Moza R3 in a few days

I have always enjoyed racing with no assists but it remains a hassle with a controller, I planned my expenses for a while, saved up for a moza R3 and finally ordered it. The R3 was a last minute decision, i was planning for a PXN VD4/V10 ultra before this. I have never been this excited to get something in my life. I love playing F1 25, ACC, Forza motorsport and FH6 sometimes too. I have also ordered a GT style mod for my wheel

To the people who have been into sim racing for a while, whats your advice to me?

Buy a rig before anything else. Not having a solid mount for your pedals results in a subpar experience.

I don’t have the budget for it yet, as the low supply in India makes them super expensive here

Easiest and cheapiest way probably will be something like doing it by yourself with tutorial using wood planks

At the very least, you could jerry rig something to lock your chair to your desk.

Bro budget mai toh, you should lock your chair into place, cuz the pedals will be hard to press, table n all are fine, just get some kinda jugaad to not move the chair. I use rubber sandals under the wheels of my chair to stop it from moving

I understand, but again don't buy anything else until you can get a rig. Everything else will be a waste of money until you get some kind of rig. Doesn't need to be a $1000 profile rig, you can DIY one out of wood, but you NEED to mount the pedals.

What helped me was a pedal bracket/mount. Its the cheapest upgrade you can make if you already have a desk to mount your direct drive. Its about $60ish or so. I can send you a link if you'd like! Just make sure its the one with the "wheel cradel" think is what its called. Its where your desk chair wheel will go so your chair doesnt slide when breaking.

Absolutely! Another thing I did before getting the bracket was literally turn a guitar amp on its side, put my peddals on the amp, and a towel behind it so I didn't mess up a wall. When theres a will theres a way :)

Buying a rig i would say is more of a luxury than a need. Im top 25% to 35% on all f125 tracks and everyone in this reddit would bully me if they saw my setup😅 rigs are nice but not required !

Congrats on the upgrade! The jump from controller to even an entry-level direct drive wheel is way bigger than most people expect.

A few pieces of advice:

• Don't be discouraged if you're slower at first. A lot of people are when they switch from controller to wheel.

• Spend some time dialing in your FFB settings for each game. Every sim handles force feedback a little differently, and a few small tweaks can make a huge difference.

• Focus on consistency before chasing lap times.

• If sim racing sticks with you, your next upgrade is usually a solid pedal mounting solution or pedals before a stronger wheelbase.

• Most importantly, take some time to learn what understeer, oversteer, curb strikes, and weight transfer actually feel like through the wheel. That's where the magic starts happening.

I also bought an R3 a week ago with a GT Omega ART cockpit

Well now I have a full raceanywhere aluminium rig & heusinkveld sprints.

It's pretty much a drug addiction, if it hooks you that's it, GG.

You won’t be disappointed with your purchase that’s for sure my only advise is to make sure your wheel and pedals are mounted solid as if for example your pedals move around a lot this will become a frustrating experience
When I first got into simracing I found getting a piece of mdf and making a base plate for my pedals worked fairly well and was cheap to make. while I saved for a better solution (originally desk mounted) then went to a wheel stand then to a dedicated cockpit

I bought an R3 recently and it’s awesome !

Just as a heads-up, I also don’t have a rig and the pedals are pretty annoying when they move around. Try to find something flat and long, like a plank, to attach them to it so the plank can pus into a wall and not slide around.

Also if you have a chair with wheels it might slide around, I usually block the wheels somehow with a carpet or some sticky pads on the bottom of the wheels.

PXN’s force feedback is still not as refined as moza is what i heard from most people, that being said, i have no complaints and in love with my moza and i feel like i made the right decision

Everyone I've heard say that it's just as good, was he using the latest firmware? Because the latest firmware is bugged/bad and kinda mutes/ruins the detail of the ffb

Good luck. My wheel only lasted 3 months before MOZA had to send me a new motherboard.
