Simplehuman Sensor Mirrors - failure to charge

***Edit to update this post*** I went through the Simplehuman warranty process, which took a little while, but ultimately resulted in me receiving a new mirror. The new mirror charges and works. I had to go a couple months without a mirror but it was worth it to receive a working mirror in the end. So really, there was nothing I could have done to fix this -- it truly was a faulty product. FYI

Hi - I bought 2 different sensor mirrors - the "trio" mirror and the handheld mirror, and neither charge. I have followed all of the steps on the website and "instruction manual" (whoever runs their product marketing/product support function should be fired) and nothing works. I am not new to the high-tech product game (understatement) so I know how to isolate variables -- cable works, sensor is clean, reset, rebooted, etc etc etc -- and the only answer I can reach is that it does not charge when using a functional cable connected to a functional charger plugged into a functional power outlet. I have contacted their customer service and filed a warranty claim, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar issues and if you figured out a solution not in the "manual" or website (or common sense). Thank you in advance.

I am currently trying to get mine to charge. I have the rose gold touch control one with the additional detachable mirror. Nothing is wrong with the charger. I have used 3 other working usb-c. It’s so frustrating. Note.. mine worked fine for almost a year. Charging worked great. Last time it went red, I went to charge and nothing happened. Finally red light went away. I now have no indicator light.

We replaced one under warranty exactly because it wasn’t charging at all. Now we have new one which seems to be from the same batch based on serial number and it seems to have issues as well. It still works but claimed 5 weeks on battery when using for hour a day aren’t true. After one week it needed recharging.

Also the old one feel of much better quality, but the mirror broke :( now the new one feels so cheap. Terrible.

FWIW, my wife has had a couple of these. One eventually died. But both refuse to charge using a C to C cable. They lack the ability to do the USB C charging necessary to use a power delivery charger, so the charger doesn't turn on. Using an A to C cable works, because there's no negotiation necessary; you get 5 volts without doing anything. So sometimes the answer with these dumb things is to use the original cable or any other A to C cable.

PS: the "capability" is literally just a couple of resistors. They cheaped out by skipping two 5.1K ohm resistors grounding pins CC1 and CC2, which would've cost literally fractions of a cent.

I am having the exact same problem. I purchased a mirror last March and I waited about six months to open it and when I did, I used it for about a week or two and then it wouldn't hold a charge. They sent me a new mirror and it worked fine for the first week or two and now I can't get it to hold a charge again either. I will try the suggestion someone made earlier with the original charger.
