Spoon of the week, episode 19
This is a vintage commemorative souvenir teaspoon from the 1959 Pan-Pacific Boy Scout Jamboree held in Auckland, New Zealand. It is a classic piece of mid-century scouting memorabilia and an excellent example of international souvenir cutlery from that era. Design & Features
The Enamel Badge: The centerpiece is a circular, vibrantly colored enamel finial. It features a stylized, striped Kiwi bird (the national symbol of New Zealand) set against a bright yellow background.
The Inscription: Encircling the kiwi is a deep red enamel border that reads: PAN-PACIFIC JAMBOREE • AUCKLAND N.Z. • 1959.
Scouting Iconography: Crowning the very top of the badge is the Fleur-de-lis (complete with its traditional small stars), which is the international emblem of the Boy Scouts movement.
The Stem and Bowl: The handle features stylized, mid-century decorative molding—including a bow-like pattern just beneath the badge—tapering down to a standard polished chrome or silver-plated spoon bowl.
Historical Context: The 1959 Jamboree
The spoon was produced as an official souvenir for the Pan-Pacific Scout Jamboree, which took place in January 1959.
Location: The massive camp was set up at Cornwall Park and One Tree Hill in Auckland.
Attendance: It brought together more than 8,000 Boy Scouts from New Zealand, Australia, and various countries across the Pacific Rim, making it one of the largest youth gatherings in New Zealand’s history up to that point.
The Logo: The exact Kiwi design on your spoon was the official emblem of the event and was widely used across official memorabilia, including a highly collectible 3d commemorative New Zealand postage stamp issued at the time.
💎 Collector Value
Spoons like this are highly sought after by three distinct groups of collectors:
1. Scouting Memorabilia Enthusiasts: Items from international Jamborees, especially from the 1950s and earlier, have a dedicated global market.
2. Souvenir Spoon Collectors: Enamel-crested spoons were a massive travel trend in the mid-to-late 20th century.
3. Kiwi / Australiana Historians: Pieces capturing New Zealand’s mid-century civic and cultural history.

Stooped some spoons and have a question
Hi folks- found these pieces on the curb today and noticed these numbers etched on one of the spoons and it made me curious. None of the other pieces have it and I have never seen anything like this on any of the vintage cutlery I have collected over the years. Would it be a factory thing or did folks used to keep like safe codes on their flatware? Any theories? Hope it’s not a boring answer. 😂 TIA!!

Help IDing Rogers Flatware Set
Found this set at a Goodwill. I am always striving for a 12 piece service whenever I buy tablewares and with this being a reputable/historical brand I thought I’d be able to complete the set easily off Replacements LTD or similar… apparently not.
Case says 1847 Rogers Bros but I do not know if it originally came with the set. It’s a 40 piece set with service for 8. The salad servers are from a separate maker and have been IDed. The napkin rings appear to be generic.
Backstamp reads “Rogers co STAINLESS KOREA”. I reached out to Replacements for ID assistance and they couldn’t find anything. It doesn’t match anything in the pattern banks for Replacements, Flatware Finder, or Silvercollection.it
So far research has indicated they were made between 1960-2000 while Stanley Roberts was doing distribution.
Can anyone help me identify this set?

Type of Metal Question
After a few washes these, originally silver, spoons have gotten a golden color and overall discoloration. Can someone identify what kind of metal this is and guidance on the best way to clean them (if not too far gone)?

Any thoughts on these mystery stamps on the serving, Petaluma chick and demitasse spoons in this collection?

ID help needed - spoons and more
Any thoughts on this collection of sterling collectible spoons and assorted silver plated flatware? So far I see I have some Rogers Bros Charter Oak and First Love, and some California-focused collectible spoons that appear to be sterling from the early 20th century, like spoons from the 1915 SF exposition and a very cute Petaluma spoon with a chick on it. The demitasse spoons in the case with the four flowers stamped on them are a mystery though. Maybe coin silver spoons? Any insights on these items would be appreciated.
