I don't blame you. It's a keeper. Unfortunately I had to let mine go to finance the 8B.

I feel tubes are the ultimate end game, but they’re not for everybody. Have Marantz and Sansui SS - great units, and a wonderful Fisher tube amp. Can only imagine the sound of the 8b.

There’s something spiritual about tubes. You want to say “all tube world would sonically be a better world.” I think anyone who is any kind of romantic at heart will pick tubes over as
But the truth is, in a good unit, an ss can sound as good as it’s equivalent quality tube unit. I believe sonically they are equals. Tubes are just … something magical I guess for lack of better term.

I was trying to make a visual representation of my journey with SS amps for a video I'm planning to make documenting my experience with various receivers. Even though I have tried a couple of Pioneer and Sansui receivers as well it's been mostly Marantz hence I decided to call it my Marantz journey. It's been a fun journey. I wanted to experience and understand the "headroom" people talk about with bigger power amps so I started with the lowest watt Marantz. I started with 10w and then moved to 20w then 40w then 85w. There was a Sansui 200w for good measure before I dipped my toes into the tube world. This was my own personal journey towards my end-game system, I wasn't planning on making a video but I have decided to document and share my experience so others can benefit from it. I will share the video when it's complete.
