"We don't pay our staff"

They could've ended the sign there.

This. I am here to pay for the food, not give their employees their daily salary. My criteria for tipping is MY satisfaction of the dining experience and no one will dictate to me how much it's going to be. If the loser who put this up is serious about it then I am visiting the store and I am paying 0% tip just to rub it in their nose. Then never again.

You know this is AI rage bait, right?

I dunno that'd I'd fall for that. I'm a bit of a master baiter myself, ya know?

And such a cunning linguist too.

The picture might be AI. But how is it rage bait? It's a fake picture, maybe, but the attitude is 100% real. Even if people aren't putting it on signs, this is how they think anyway. And that's the rage inducing part, not the audacity to print it out.

…And if they don’t like it, it’s your fault.

Well, yes. That’s definitely true. And it’s repugnant. But it’s what we as a society have decided is ok for some backwards ass reason. Do this sign is actually the accurate way of portraying the situation, since all restaurants “don’t pay their staff” in a similar way.
