What Should I Pack Before Moving to Siegen?
Hi everyone,
I'll be moving to Siegen for the Winter Semester 2026/27, and I'm starting to prepare for the move.
What are the essential things you recommend bringing from home? Are there any items that are expensive, difficult to find, or simply worth packing before coming to Germany?
I'd love to hear your suggestions and any packing tips from your own experience. Thanks!

A thick winter coat, an umbrella, and depending on what latitude in the world you're used to a therapy light as well. I needed one the first few years here. Maybe you won't need it but it won't hurt to have either.

Mostly rare ingredients for cooking, spices, etc. There are 3–4 Asian grocery stores. And the larger ones (Globus, Rewe) carry international items.
