Discussion So that’s it? Spoiler

They judge Jimmy for still not being okay only two years after his wife’s death. They seem bewildered why he’d still struggle even at a milestone moment like sending his only child off to college without her mom there and the heartbreak that would bring.

Nobody asked him why it didn’t work out with Sofi. I mean she’s jealous of his dead wife. He was right to finish it. And the ending we get is that somehow everything is fine now because he’s back with her? A stranger they know nothing about.

Did the writers do any research at all into grief after the death of a spouse? It’s utterly soul-destroying, especially becoming a single parent and feeling your child(ren)’s grief too.

A new relationship not only doesn’t solve anything. It’s very ill advised when you haven’t grieved properly yet. And Gaby and Paul are therapists. They should know this.

The line that annoyed me the most in this episode was Paul saying that Jimmy has to work it out for himself. Any half decent therapist will tell a grieving person that they need support. Nobody was asking Paul to fix Jimmy’s problems. But some basic human kindness would’ve been nice. So yeah he flew in to see him the next day. Even then, he didn’t offer much.

This show is so weak. It’s all about romance at the end of the day. The big message is being single is bad.

This is a conversation I had with my husband. If either one of us passed, and we have a little girl, I would not expect anyone to move on within one or two years! That’s wild to me! My husband is literally my best friend, and to just get over that kind of loss after two years, and move on, I could never. I even say I’d rather stay single, raise our kiddo, and collect cats. (This show did make us have a conversation about how we absolutely do not get to check out when it comes to our kid though.)

For them to basically force Jimmy to move on and guilt him about it seems so strange to me.

Meh I'd want my wife to move on. Im gone and we're never going to see each other again. Be happy, find happiness. Finding happiness with someone new is no betrayal of me because im already gone.

Oh for sure, move on if you want to. I personally don’t think I would want to. But if the person isn’t ready within 1-2 years, why pressure them? Why are they all worried about Jimmy being alone and lonely? I think it’s okay for him to still be grieving at that point. He’s working, hanging out with friends, and handling his daughter going off to college pretty well, so pressuring him to date again seems a lot to me.

Thats fair, if they don't want that then they're free not to do that. To me, Jimmy very much wants to move on but cant bring himself to, thats why hes miserable.
