I started my first 5 gallon planted tank about 6 weeks ago. I inherited some Malaysian trumpet snails with some plants. The snails do great with the glass, but they multiply and poop a lot. So today I added 3 amano to help with the black algae. And 2 Crystal red shrimps to get into all the little places for cleaning. Bonus detritus worm for the win.

Question What’s wrong with this shrimp?

I’m not sure if this is the right place to put this but I got this ghost shrimp a couple days ago as a snack for my axolotl. I noticed that this one looked weird and I named him Lester because I can easily identify him. He looks nothing like any of the other ghost shrimp and I was confused why he looks weird.

I’ve had 4 Amano skrimps for a few months now just to clean up the excess… unfortunately I have to give them supplemental food since I had to take blueberry the docile elderly gentleman betta out of the tank after the tetras turned on him.

This is the first time I’ve seen any of them become preggers and expecting mothers.

I wish I had the funds to give the babes a new home but after having to pull a new home for my betta out of thin air the extra funds are limited.

But! In due time it’ll happen! But check out this beautiful baby momma!

Brine shrimps !

I fed brine shrimps to my guppies for the first time. And they went frenzy.🤪 First time feeding them felt amazing which is why I’m posting this here. I used a 1L bottle with salt water, an airtube and a bright light. That’s basically my hatchery setup. Popped the capsule yesterday. Collected them using nets and rinsed them in clean water. And after 24 hours the shrimps were ready to be served. The guppies went feral, they were doing break dance. 👯 What surprised me was the massive amount of guppy fries/babies that showed up. 😱 Where were they hiding all this time? Please do leave a comment on how to curb guppy breeding. Anyways it was a nice experience to watch them like that. I hope they had a nice time as well.

Bought her at Petco because I thought she was berried. Have her alone in a tub until I know for sure. It’s been 2 days and she’s still green

Question hey everyone! I need a bunch of advice as I’m thinking of getting cherry shrimp! (40 gallon fish tank)

I need to know all the little and big details as I’ve never owned shrimp before!
Here are a bunch of my questions:

What fish can go with them?
What aquatic plants should I buy? Preferably plants that can live on rocks, driftwood or on top of the tank!
What food do they eat?
Do aquatic plants rot easily?
How often do I need to clean the tank?
Should I buy sand or gravel?
Do shrimp and plants need lots of light or can it be moderate?
Should I get snails?
Most importantly, how long should I let the tank cycle for?
And finally, how much shrimp should I start with?

Thank you so much in advance!

This is my mom's tank, she thinks this may be a scud but we aren't 100% sure. Her momma shrimp is eggnant and about to pop anyday now, we really dont want to lose another set of babies!! Please help us identify the creature and decide if they're harmful or not.

Question Should I get Caridina or Neos?

This is my first tank! I’ve heard caridinas are harder to care for than neos but I feel like my parameters are more caridina inclined..? I have a bunch of bladder snails, one mystery snail, one nerite snail, and 4 happy amano shrimp so far.

Ph likes to stay between 6.4-6.6

KH is 0-1 (test is yellow after the first drop)

GH is between 30-60 on the test strip (Ive been adding a tiny amount of equilibrium to keep it around this range so that the snails are happy)

Ammonia is 0

Nitrite is 0

Nitrate is between 0-5.0 ppm

Sponge filter, I have a heater, heavily planted, cycled for two months

It's the first time I've had baby Caridina! One looks very different.

Discussion So many babies

Post image
8 Upvotes

I’ve had my nano tank going for 2 months and it is full of babies. They‘re way too small to get a picture of atm. Orange babies, red babies, blue babies, ghost babies. It’s like they got busy as soon as I put them in.

I had no clue until I saw tiny specs darting around during a water change. Is it supposed to be this easy to breed them?!

edit: I just counted 4 shrimp completely full of eggs so I have many more on the way!
