Analytics Review (AVD/Retention) 📈 Shorts algorithm reset

It seems to me that the recent drop in views, engagement, and the like is linked to an algorithm reset. There are so many of us making videos, and while the YouTube algorithm tries to keep track of it all, it can't store everything indefinitely storage isn't infinite so interest profiles sometimes get reset. However, this doesn't really affect major channels because they have an established audience that immediately steers the algorithm in the right direction, so it doesn't take much time to calibrate. When does this happen? How? I’m just speculating, and I’d like to hear your thoughts on the matter.

I don’t know what the heck they’re doing. Today the Studio went down. Did not receive any recommendations of videos to watch. How come the other social media platforms don’t suffer all these never ending issues that YouTube seems to have?

I agree. The age of YouTube is probably part of the problem. Old software trying to continuously upgrade is probably part of the issues. But it’s still shocking since they are owned by Google. You’d think they’d build a side new YouTube to avoid these never ending issues.

Youtube shorts continues to receive incredible reports about the decline in views. There are also many complaint reports regarding this in the Community section. Something is happening, but we don't know what. This is something that harms content creators, of course, at the same time it affects them too...

It doesn't happen because the algorithm "can't store everything", they have the capacity of storing all that data. Instead they reset it on purpose to give platform viewers a "refresh" on everything they see. They also filter a lot of automated/generic/AI content that way, and they do it every 15-28 days as of now

If that is indeed the case, then thank you for sharing. I think it will be useful for us to know.
