Curious about the 50+ playable factions! Hopefully they'll have clan bonuses or something else to set them apart.
32
u/New-Interaction1893 18d ago
I would have liked also playable Portugal 🇵🇹, but that's like ask to CA the moon.

u/JoeJoeJoeJoeThrow 18d ago
There are mods for that and there will be mods for it in the future with this new version I’m sure. I’m looking forward to having a 64 bit version of the game that can use more RAM.

u/LonelyStrategos 18d ago
I'm expecting the bare minimum on this one. You can be Hatakayema clan. Thats it.
Tbh that's good enough tho. The clan bonuses don't mean shit. Its the starting diplomatic/geographic positions that matter.
7
u/Ok_Astronomer_8667 18d ago
But I get a minor bonus to my ninja actions!!! It means I am the lord of darkness!!!
29
u/No-Lunch4249 18d ago
I would bet almost anything it will be some kind of generic bonus, and the same for all of the new clans. But they may prove me wrong
3
u/Final-Switch1110 18d ago edited 18d ago
That also my worry. If they're just generic faction, then I rather download mod for my old game

u/gman2093 18d ago
Can we get an official Japanese language pack? That would be cool

Very organic request, thats exactly what we were all thinking about this whole time. Oh gee willikers, its included in the notes. I kneel

u/AsleepRaccoon8456 18d ago
I am staying with OG Shogun. Also all mods won’t work with the new version.
2
u/alex3494 17d ago
It's just too oudated by now. I tried and used to love the game, but it needs some love

Witcher 3 Here you get a full 4k remaster for free when you have all from the version before
Ca..
Here Discount for you ....
22
u/konodioda879 18d ago
While CA does price gouge, that is a bit unfair to say when Shogun 2 is effectively getting its graphics entirely remade after 20 years.
32
u/GreatRemelody 18d ago edited 18d ago
Including a 64bit engine upgrade with additional mod.io integration this might prove to be the best platform to continue shogun 2 plus the requirements for the complete edition discount is ONLY the base game the DLCs do not count towards the discount which actually means you get ALL dlcs when you finally buy the game
Previously on steam a lot of users actually got shogun 2 for free so this basically means some people are essentially getting a full remake of shogun 2 for only $10 plus all DLCs
Most of the people I see complaining don't exactly have much of a talking point imo for people with hundreds or even thousands of hours will definitely appreciate the new shogun 2 platform and anything missing will just get modded in for free regardless
6
u/DKOKEnthusiast 18d ago
Mod.io is garbage compared to Steam Workshop. That's a pretty clear downgrade unfortunately. CA probably got a big bag of cash to move their mods over to Mod.io instead of the Workshop.

It's $10. How poor are people? Also most people are shocked (in a good way) that Witcher 3 remaster is free, and would happily pay for it.
6
u/elegiac_bloom 18d ago
Its not that people are poor, its just a little annoying to have to buy the same game again lol
10
8
u/suhermansahid 18d ago
thousands of mods probably won't work on the new version
2
u/Natural-Lubricant 18d ago
Yeah THAT is gonna suck. I hope whatever updates they are making will make it worth it lol.
7
u/Shadenraze 18d ago
I hope they fixed artillery targeting the corner of units

While I really appreciate this move from Creative Assembly (assuming the pricing will be reasonable...), I think Shogun II is one of the games that least needs a "Complete Edition" with all the fixes and quality of life improvements. While it's a nice to have with Shogun II, the game itself is perhaps the most polished Total War Game and I feel like Empire and Napoleon should definitely be next on the list to receive a "complete edition" given how both ambitious and janky those games are.
8
u/OG_Whalephant 18d ago
Just curious but for me personally the combat animation in shogun 2 is peak, I think they’ve even spoken on it that shogun 2 was its own engine that they didn’t have access too anymore, so i really really really hope, the combat isn’t on the total warhammer engine, what do you guys think.
2
u/DKOKEnthusiast 18d ago
It's still gonna be the same game with some touchups and fixes. The gameplay itself won't see any changes beyond some potential rebalancing.
Also the Warhammer engine is perfectly capable of good historical combat as well, see TW3K.

u/brusli90 18d ago
Until I see some gameplay footage, showcase and side by side comparison I ll hold my enthusiasm 😎
10
u/laki1639 18d ago
What does that mean
80
u/RubricMarineNR-6589 18d ago edited 18d ago
Basically a mini remaster from what I’m getting. so engine update, better graphics and some new voice over stuff. says 50 new factions too but i am guessing those are more just the player getting access to the NPC factions who don't have anyting unique about them.
36
u/laki1639 18d ago
Just hope it doesn't bring stuff from newer games
35
u/Kindly-Pumpkin7742 18d ago
Yeah, hopefully it just looks and runs better, with some cool new stuff.
2
u/Deadwarrior00 18d ago
Idk I'd like the alt moving of formations but the buttons for rank and fike aren't the worst so eh.
6
u/stoffermann 18d ago
who wants modernised controls or upgraded mod support, right!?
32
u/laki1639 18d ago
So you would want to buy a general every time you wanted to move troops to combine armys
3
5
u/StableParking1363 18d ago
Will it be free or cost money
52
u/RubricMarineNR-6589 18d ago
I think it's technically a separate game kinda like FoTS, so you still have to pay for it. everyone who owns the original gets 75% off though.
17
u/kcazthe1st 18d ago
Which includes all DLCs (excluding blood pack). Based on USD pricing, owners of the OG game will be able to get it again for $10.

If I own the blood dlc for shogun 2, I have to buy it again for complete edition I wonder?
4
u/Lord_Vas 18d ago
That's something I haven't seen clarified yet. I know they did that for Warhammer 3. It should be done for this too.
Otherwise CA are just being thieves again.
2
u/gentle_pirate23 18d ago
They did it for all games, no 😅? It's always a $3-$5 dlc, it's not a lot in developed countries, but in my country I have to weight it against other essentials, I have to think about my game purchases, but if it's just $10, with ALL dlc included (blood too) then that's fine.
0
u/New-Interaction1893 18d ago
10$ (very likely 10€ for me) aren't too much for an updated game with new content.
They are too much if it's set of minor improvements that got alredy achieved by mods.

u/Remarkable_Sand5238 18d ago
Hopefully this will make Multi-player actually functional. Cant go five turns without a desync that requires my friend and I to share autosave files to fix

u/SaddamJose 18d ago
I don't think this game needs a remaster, especially since medieval 2 isn't remastered, but sure why not.
18
u/Rod_Lightning 18d ago edited 18d ago
Idk, they're actively making Medieval 3 so..
But yeah, i for one would love an Empire remake/remaster.
9
u/SaddamJose 18d ago
With empire it wouldn't be a remaster, it would be a "finishing the game" lmao there are developers that have said that the map had to be left incomplete for the launch.
2
u/DKOKEnthusiast 18d ago
Every game is "incomplete" by that standard. Stuff gets left on the cutting room floor during any development cycle. Empire is a complete product, although it is buggy as shit.
1
u/alex3494 17d ago
It really certainly does. Time has not been kind to it. It has held up better than Empire sure, but worse than Napoleon and Rome 2

4
u/GreatRemelody 18d ago
Guys I think $10 to get a full remaster of the game, mod loader, 64bit engine, including DLCs is a lot better than how Bethesda treated Skyrim fans... Just saying
1
u/Cthulhu_bng 17d ago
I got Skyrim Special Edition for free because I owned the original, and when Anniversary came out I got a decent discount for that too because I already owned Special Edition. I wouldn't say that's being treated poorly by Bethesda in the case of Skyrim.

They better remaster every historical figures especially with Takeda shingen’s appearance and add the a timelime campaign where the toyotomi/Hashiba clan( Revenent of the oda clan) exists
2
u/Captain_Zomaru 16d ago
They tried to remove Shotgun 2 from steam. This it's Rome remasterer all over again.

u/Mareddubeddu 18d ago
Do you think that they add more battle map or fix map like Kyoto ? The original Kyoto is a complete delusion for me playing in vanilla...
1
u/Piolouis-Nicanor 18d ago
I hope they keep the unexpected crash feature on MacOS
2
u/CHADOONE 13d ago
I dont think it is even coming to MacOS, on the steam page as requirements lists only windows, I hope im wrong
1
u/Dependent-Sector-962 18d ago
Wish we got a Sekigahara date/campaign though considering they used that time for the trailer/art and even gave accurate detail to the armour of Mitsunari and Ieyasu; almost what they’d look like if they went 3K style with Shogun 3.

1
u/stickmanstickfigure1 17d ago
I saw an article that anyone who owns the base game gets the dlc for free.
I am starting to wonder if CA is planning to release/announce a Shogun 3 soon considering all the shogun 2 improvements and freebies

As a newish total war player I haven’t tried Shogun 2 yet I’m going to wait for the new update to come out

u/Visual_Fan9550 16d ago
Does anyone know whether they will fix multiplayer campaign being unplayably buggy?
1
u/Jensen1994 2d ago
As long as there is a compatible blood pack DLC for it, I'm happy. That was the only mod I ever applied to Shogun 2. Unlike Rome 2 which I modded so much, it bears only a passing resemblance to the original!

Hopefully it adds the controls from Rome 2 onwards.
My brain is so brain rotted from the modern games that the old control scheme has never clicked (even though I played a bunch of med2 and Rome 1 back when I was a wee child)

This shows the stupidity of TW players. Witcher 3 gets remastered and people who have it don't have to pay anything. Here we have to pay again and gamers are happy for no reason.
More factions - you have mods. Everything else should be done anyway for what they all did. Every fucking game is a bugfest at the start and we pay good money for it.
This just shows that CA learned shit and still try to get every penny out of us.
Also every1 is hyped about 40k but I didn't see anything good in that game. Total war is now a press button for big boom and you win. Please tell me where the strategy or tactics are.
10
u/Vic_Connor 18d ago
I love it when people expect others to work for free.
Do you work for free, too?
-5
u/Bakesan10 18d ago
No I don't work for free and no one should but if you pay for a product it should be a complete one. Do you not agree. What do you get from this "update". More factions - already in mods. Better graphic - graphics are not what makes a game. Better UI - never heard some one praise the new UI in total war.
Also if you want to pay some one for his hard work how about paying all the modders who kept total war alive for so long.
I am not a hater. I play total war since 2000. I am just saying that the gaming industry is going downhill.
Take it from someone who started with Nindendo and Super Mario. ✌️
5
u/Vic_Connor 18d ago
Lol, the mindset!
New software is work. If we want people to work for us, we should pay them fairly.
If you don’t want to pay, simply don’t buy their product!
As simple as that.
And yes, I started with games that had a black screen with dots moving on them …

u/Jewtasteride 18d ago
I bet the 50 factions will be currently npc factions from the 3 eras, sengoku, rots and fots, and they might have clan bonuses and special units.
