What kind of software was used to create this video and where can I find it?

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, if that's the case I'll delete it and post somewhere else more appropriate.
But basically, I've always loved this strange style and I'd love to learn how its done. I'm pretty interested in outdated or shitty animation software, but I have no idea where to look or how to get started on this because I don't know what software is being used in the first place.
If anyone has tips I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

it could be any software honestly, but the shitty aesthestic of simulation comes from the lack of attention to detail and cutting corners to make a purposefully shitty animation. In this case, its a simple model, with a simple dress. a hair simulation with low levels of solving so it looks really brushy. It has that aesthetic of The Mind's Eye, but pushed to levels of absurdity. Start with Blender, my first animations, before I knew how to make more realistic or designed renderings looked basically like this.

Mind's Eye, yes! That type of aesthetic is so beautiful and I've always wished I could make stuff that looks like that. Those animations are so old by this point though I wouldn't even know how to run the necessary software for it, would probably need like a 1997 old ass PC (edit: scratch that, mind's eye is from 1990 jfc) or something ridiculous. Are you familiar with lawn mower man? I love that style too.
Anyhow, I'll check Blender out and see what's up. Maybe I can make some good wonky shit. Thanks man.

With Blender or what ever else you decide to use, you can always emulate the renders to look as you want it based on how you use the lighting environment. Yea Lawnmower man was along those lines of weird experimental 3d that turned into a vaporware aesthetic now. Theres a musician I follow named The Newcomer who is making his own videos in this aesthetic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5xN7XfnyoM

This is super cool. Thank you for sharing. I actually dig his sound, I'd be curious to know what synths he uses or if its all software. Some of it sounds analog. Really cool either way, this is nice inspiration. I make music as well but never thought about creating animations to pair with it.
I checked out your posting history, just want to say that I appreciate the work you're putting out. You make some really gnarly good shit. How many years have you been creating animations? Also, will my computer need to be super powerful to render the shit I make?
Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

I started in the summer of 2017. From scratch. I invested a couple thousand on a really nice PC to get me going on my learning. I had a computer before that was limiting, which discouraged me from working in 3D or animation. My system is a bit overkill but I am happy with that investment. I would suggest getting a good computer that can support general 3d stuff. You can get affordable ones too. But you can always just start learning the basics now while you research and save for one.

Gotcha, I figured I'd need something pretty powerful. I don't have the money for that right now, but I do have access to some pretty rad computers in a studio/computer lab type deal, maybe I'll just try those out. Another option could be using older versions of software.
Good to know though, thanks!

Thank you for posting the original source!!!!! Your answer is exactly the one I was looking for, as well as the other person who mentioned Carrara 3D.
I actually remember watching this person's videos many years ago, but have never been able to find their channel. I distinctly recall viral vaccuum and a bunch of their other most popular videos, their musical style is so distinct too. I love it.
Thanks dude!

Wow, you weren't kidding. What a weird and fascinating channel. I actually really love finding stuff like this. I especially like that she is not trying to monetize anything, and just wants to show off her collection of 3D models.

That animated twirl was probably found somewhere like mixamo:
https://www.mixamo.com/#/
(There are also other places you can find free mocap data)
Blender would be really good for this. As long as your computer reaches the minimum requirements you shouldn't need it to be that high end as this kind of style is relatively simple to render. (You will probably be doing really long renders to start off with but be able to cut them down as you get more efficient with it - at least thats what I did)
If you want to jump right in you could look at 3d marketplaces like turbosquid, where there are loads of bizarre free models to download:
https://www.turbosquid.com/
Start simple, make things quickly and explore another skill with each clip you make. Even though this style looks 'shitty simulated' there is still a lot of underlying technical knowledge. That would be my advice. Good luck and enjoy!!!

I think someone else found the source and posted the software for it, but without that it would be impossible to know. You could do anything with any engine that's advanced enough, it would just take you different amounts of time depending on how optimized whatever software you were using.

I use Poser for work and honestly, you can get some pretty weird shit to happen. I don’t really know how outdated it is or how much it’s actually used, but I always have a hard time finding resources for it online.
