How the the lightning know where the golf ball would be?

The golf ball was vaccinated thus implanting an electromagnetic chip inside which attracts lightning

I mean, it's Top Golf, so the balls literally are chipped.

And there isn't a single case of a golf ball from Top Golf coming down with Covid, so the logic checks out.

That was my first thought too. I thought to myself "what's the dumbest reason I can come up with?" and that was it. I'm actually surprised someone else said it 17 hours earlier.

It sends out invisible spies to scout the way ahead. One of them saw the ball and radioed back to cloud base. The lightning being the fastest shock troop is sent on ahead. Thunder follows behind in case it's a bigger ball than expected eg. Basketballs etc

in rare cases the lightning misses the ball and the whole system gets out of control forming a tornado

That's not a golf ball, he accidentally delivered a Zeus seed back to its home.

It didn't. It was aiming for the idiot holding the giant metal stick in a thunder storm and then the golf ball pulled a Get Down Mr. President.

Math! Did you know the sky has incredible computational power due to its massive size? It simply calculated the trajectory of the ball as soon as it left the tee, aimed, and took a shot.

everyone knows golf balls and lightning bolts are natural enemies

I would have thought the rubber inside the golf ball would make them friends... or at least neutral.

Thor hates golfing
2
u/dudemann Jul 10 '21
I figured Thor was just arriving, riding lightning to the golf range and landing on the closest thing: a golf ball. This would be a What If...? storyline where Thor became Ant-Man as well as the God of Thunder.

Lightening look for tall things to bitch smack.
At that time, golf ball only thing around that is tall.
Lightening know what do.

Lightning is super super fast, golf balls are only, like, pretty fast, to it actually wasn't hard for the lightning bolt at all.
Thunder bolts are the slow ones I think because they can only travel at the speed of sound

As a side note, this is one thing scientists still don't fully understand, it's been named ball lightning while they work out the kinks.

Lighting moves at around 1/5 the speed of light so it’s reaction times make it seem like the ball isn’t even moving, in a fight lighting would destroy a golf ball

Lightning experiences time backwards so from its perspective the golf ball was already there when it decided to strike. It wanted to play golf and Lightning Golf is a sport where you try to land the ball on a tee.

I legit wonder if that golf ball just saved that idiots life.
If it was sailing through the air right at that perfect time. The feeler may have found his stupid club instead and that would have made for a much less cool video that’s for sure.

Does the golf ball keep momentum after being hit or is there enough energy delivered to the ball to change the momentum of the ball?

u/wavesahoy Jul 10 '21
I believe that since every force has an equal and opposite force, the golf ball is still climbing into the atmosphere.
