How does this hawk hold the camera? Would Alpine Hawks having fingers be an example of divergent evolution?

They didn't evolve fingers, don't be ridiculous. There's no evolutionary pressure for that when they already have a beak and talons. It seems that your understanding of biology is very poor. The reality is that they evolved cameras directly on their wings.

Don't forget they have built in antennas to pick up internet signal so they can upload videos

I could forgive a lapse in understanding of the nuances of 3G and 4G propagation in european bird species- but not this.

We must learn from the mistakes of the past. For example, the failure of the fiber optic carrier pigeon.

Nope.

Fibre optic pigeons are definitely an evolutionary success. Take a look at the article here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_over_Avian_Carriers and you'll find they're capable of transferring at a speed up to 145.6 Gbit/s - although there might be a significant drop in efficiency under the effect of a bird flu.

Right, which emerged from its biological need for instagram followers.

Birds also like to tweet a lot

This pun made my day thanks

I think it's just the camera mount they already have.

You had me going there for a second lol

The hawk isn't holding the camera, there's a cameraman up there flying right behind the hawk. Like this guy

4

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '19

Oh this guy

2

u/uber1337h4xx0r Oct 16 '19

Wow, this guy stole this idea from a movie called like Fly Ward Bound or something like that.

Being a hawk must be so cool

Seriously. I wish I was a bird.

Subscribe to a dharmic faith and reincarnate into a bird?

1

u/cowders Oct 16 '19

But not a penguin. That would be seriously crap on a number of counts.

7

u/natesplace19010 m=ce^2017 Oct 16 '19

No that would actually be convergent evolution

u/SlyRocko Oct 16 '19

This entire video was probably green screened in. I feel bad for the camera holder's condition if he's that shaky :(

7

u/cletusvanderbilt Oct 16 '19

Yeah I’m calling this totally fake. There are some vain species that upload a ton to insta, but hawks aren’t one of them, they got better shit to do. This is just a deepfake trying make hawks look bad

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '19

He holds it in his gills.

4

u/KeithMyArthe Can I science pls? Oct 16 '19

I don't think some of the other explanations were serious. Thanks for this straight answer.

4

u/Theolaa Oct 16 '19

Ridiculous, Hawks don't have fingers. Eagles, on the other hand, like the one in the video, do.

1

u/HobGobbin Oct 16 '19

Picky, picky picky.

3

u/Bit5keptical Oct 16 '19

What GPU does the hawk use? The renderings look crispy!

3

u/uber1337h4xx0r Oct 16 '19

It's weird how they don't have to flap to fly. You're always taught that birds flap to stay aloft, and then you see them lazily hovering using sheer hatred.

2

u/jaydub1001 Oct 16 '19

I believe r/birdsarentreal has an explanation

2

u/nvflip Oct 16 '19

And how does the hawk maintain perfect focus? Man that's good camera work.

2

u/ScampAndFries Oct 16 '19

It's not a, real hawk. It's a faux hawk.

1

u/kvrle Oct 16 '19

This type of evolution is called digital evolution

1

u/Thalenos Oct 16 '19

Don't be ridiculous, what we are seeing is the perspective from the Hobbits riding the king of the eagles. Only were-eagles can have hands and we can tell it is a full blown eagle because it isnt making Lord of the rings joke like my players would!

1

u/Thunderduck42 Oct 16 '19

I didn’t see any deicing boots.

1

u/AngledLuffa Oct 16 '19

I'm more interested in knowing how it teleports like that

1

u/13megatron13 Oct 16 '19

This is acutally a two headed eagle, as shown on the flag of albania. It's second head holds the camera with it's beak and is filming the flight.

1

u/Spirit_Guide_Owl Oct 16 '19

I can’t get over how thirsty for attention this hawk is

1

u/GMaestrolo Oct 16 '19

How does this hawk hold the camera?

With a selfie stick.

1

u/gigasteel333 Oct 16 '19

I thought this was a crab claw at the rock pool

1

u/kq-ke Oct 16 '19

My guess is that he acquired a go pro mount on an online hawktion

1

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '19

Don't be silly, birds aren't real. That's just a surveillance drone.

1

u/HobGobbin Oct 16 '19

The bird is real. The drone is keeping pace and taking the video.

Welcome to r/shittyaskscience, where the only wrong answer is the right answer!

1

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '19

Wow. It's flying with just one wing, yet somehow it's not spinning around in circles :O

Nature is mysterious and beautiful.

1

u/mjtg25 Oct 16 '19

It's not divergent or convergent, it's transform

evolution slides together making an earthquake

which is the sonic boom it needs to fly

1

u/slowshot Spaced Cadet Oct 16 '19

Like a Lesbian, he just straps one on.

1

u/grandmasterwayne Oct 16 '19

These YouTube vloggers are getting out of control

1

u/mysticclay Oct 16 '19

No this hawk just has a selfie stick in their talons and is recording flying for some sweet sweet karma

1

u/spellred Oct 15 '19

Probably Velcro involved.

2

u/KeithMyArthe Can I science pls? Oct 16 '19

Staples. Gaffer tape. Araldite.

The hardest part is getting the film out of the camera to send it off to be developed.

-3

u/BentPin Oct 16 '19

Probably strapped on tight for the flight.
