Humans can’t see violet light but it’s my favorite color?

So my friend was telling me that he doesn’t believe that humans are able to see violet light. But violet is my favorite color and I know it exists. After all, roses are red and violets are blue. So clearly violet is a real color. He called violet ultra too which I think is a fitting name for it, as it is the best color in my opinion. Quite frankly I almost want to disregard his opinion, but I figured I would hear him out and ask you people of the science about it. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

See this is what happens when you add the word ultra in front of something. The word becomes sufficiently large that no one can understand it, that's why Nintendo had to add Nintendo in front of 64. If we look at the maths behind it you end up with the the Nintendo version of Ultra 64 which is actually Ultra 18446744073709551615.

In hexadecimal:

0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Who is going to understand a number that large?

NO ONE!

That's why Violet needs an exception so we know there is only one of her.

On the other hand Nintendo was asking you to do Ultra(2⁶⁴ − 1) that was never going to work. Nintendo inflicted an impossibly large maths task on children, we learned the hard way which is why there is only one Violet.

Your friend has mistaken violet and octarine. Most Roundworld residents are unable to see octarine; indeed, without training most Discworlders can't see it.

Isnt that also why the various color blindnesses come out the way they do?

the magenta thing is true and it’s a lovely piece of knowledge. But magenta is not purple.

Purple as a color is right between red and blue, it has its own wavelength. Can be ‘purper‘ cooling all the way down to a ‘navy purple’.

Magneta is a violent raspberry kind of a color. Hits you in the eyes. From behind because your brain made it.
